India has risen onto the world stage. India today is witnessing an era of confidence and tough talk previously not known to Indian diplomacy earlier, courtesy Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and Dr. S Jaishankar’s ‘Krishna diplomacy’. With India giving back to the ‘superpowers’ in a language they understand, India has successfully created a sense of fear among diplomatic circles around the world. The world, which once dictated our internal policies, today talks about India with respect. India has invested a lot into this, and the world is watching the show now.
US meddling in India’s oilonomics
As reported by TFI, the United States Consulate attempted to browbeat Indian authorities by asking them to not allow Russian ships in Mumbai port. The Consulate general wrote a letter to the Mumbai Port authority in the aforementioned matter. As per the letter, the consulate general believed that as US had imposed sanctions on Russia; India too should side with the West. The letter asked the authorities to not allow Russian vessels to dock at the port due to sanctions.
The news was publicised as “the Narendra Modi government is sabotaging the strengthening India-US relations by prioritising Russia.” At a time when the United States of America has vowed to support India in its offense against China, and trade between both the countries were increasing at a rapid pace, the Modi government has done nothing wrong, as cheap oil is a necessity for India to contain inflation. All that India is doing is prioritising its own interests.

India gives a scathing response to the superpower
The Mumbai port authority had in turn written to the Directorate General of Shipping, who in turn sought the intervention of the external affairs ministry.
Well, although India is prioritising its interests over its pseudo-moral allies, the nation and its people are in no mood to tolerate the west’s moral dictation.
India on Wednesday gave a scathing response to the West. India took objection in the concerned matter and asserted that it is New Delhi’s “sovereign rights to deal with global partners in the national interests.” As per reports, New Delhi has decided to not deny permission to ships from any particular country from entering its ports.

India should not respond to every whim and fancy
The Biden administration has attempted every possible trick to bring India on its side. Sometimes by blaming India for inappropriate treatment of the religious minorities, and sometime by calling out India for funding the Russia-Ukraine war, as India was buying Russian oil.
On every such unsolicited attempt to hack India’s sovereignty, India and especially the External Affairs Ministry have shown the mirror to the West. It was EAM Jaishankar’s ferocious remarks to the West, while standing on their land, that gained him praises, and Jaishankar became the darling of the masses.
Shutting every mouth that speaks against India, or attempts to attack the sovereignty of India has been appraised by Indians. But responding to every whim and fancy of the West is certainly not a good idea. America is not Britain of the 19th century and India is no more a colony to a supposed superpower. It is not important for New Delhi to respond to queries every-time, especially when it comes from an organisation such as US consulate.
