Youtubers, in the name of entertainment, cross all the boundaries of decency and public decorum. For the sake of a few likes and subscribers, they forget that there is a world outside social media, YouTube, and views. At least, this is what was witnessed on Saturday when Gaurav Taneja, a famous YouTuber was arrested for creating chaos in the metro station.
Gaurav Taneja arrested
As per the reports, Gaurav Taneja, to celebrate his birthday, created a stampede-like situation in Noida Sector 51 Metro station. He had booked a Metro rail coach for his birthday celebration and was told that the capacity of the train would be 200 people, 50 people for each coach. The Noida Metro Rail Corporation, for such events, allows the booking of up to four coaches on a train.
Despite this, the YouTuber probably put the story or posted the message and informed all his followers about the celebration. As a consequence, a large crowd gathered on the road which affected the traffic.
“He may have posted a message, and his followers had gathered. There was a large gathering around 3.30 pm, and no permission was taken for this. There was a jam on the road outside the Noida Sector 51 metro station as a result, making it difficult for commuters. The traffic issue was resolved with some difficulty,” the police officer said.
Taneja was arrested and an FIR was filed under IPC sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant). He was granted bail on Sunday. Section 144 of the CrPC is in force in Noida and the gathering was a violation of that, the officer added.
“People had gathered and there was chaos with regard to traffic. Some people had stopped to see what was happening. An alert was issued, and traffic management was done. It was not planned and we didn’t know about it,” said a senior officer of the Noida Traffic Police.

A few months ago, he was also trolled on social media when he posted the photo of his house-warming puja. He wrote, “Hinduism is a science-based way of life. On 3 dec, 1984, two families remained unaffected from Bhopal gas leak. They performed regular havan….”
Youtubers need to maintain decorum
In the view of Nupur Sharma controversy, it was witnessed that multiple YouTubers made demeaning videos against nation’s interests. While the content of the videos were beyond nasty, they were equally violent and provocative in nature.
Moreover, the YouTubers involved in the business of the soft vlogs, too, breach protocols and promote content which is offensive in nature. It was last year that the issue of pranks that portray sexual abuse or rape was highlighted by a Twitter page ‘Youth Against Rape,’ where some content creators on YouTube harass women without their consent, upload videos on the platform and make money. Not only this but when India called for a boycott against China, Tech Youtubers actively promoted China gadgets.
The content creators seem to have become a new menace in our country. They do not even have an iota of idea about public decorum, decency and boundaries. They do not shy away from breaching protocols in order to make vlog or video and it is of course, not correct. It is high time they realise that there are certain boundaries and laws which they need to abide by.
