Dear BJP, making Devendra Fadnavis Deputy CM is certainly not a ‘masterstroke’

Deputy CM Fadnavis

“Only a Shiv Sainik will become the CM”- these were the words of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut. Well, it seems like the Gods have heard him. Now, as the whole of India can witness, Eknath Shinde, a Shiv sainik has taken oath as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

However, the decision came as a surprise for many as they were waiting for the moment when the “Breaking News” that Devendra Fadnavis taking oath as the CM will flash on the TV screens. Unfortunately, Fadnavis has been awarded the position of Deputy chief minister, which is of course not a masterstroke by the saffron party.

CM Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis

TFI had predicted a few days back that Devendra Fadnavis will soon make a grand comeback at the helm of affairs in Maharashtra. However, something mysterious transpired behind the doors. During a press conference, the man whom India wanted to see as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra himself announced that “Shiv Sainik Eknath Shinde will take oath as the new CM”.

With this generous and humble decision, Fadnavis yet again proved that no one else but Home Minister Amit Shah and Fadnavis are the real Chanakya. Moreover, the fate of Fadnavis was sealed when he was declared Maharashtra’s new deputy chief minister.

Why BJP backed Shinde and not Fadnavis?

As the political crisis of Maharashtra came to an end with the elevation of Eknath Shinde to the position of the chief minister, people remained shocked after the BJP’s decision to back the rebel leader and not Fadnavis. Home Minister Amit Shah announced that “Devendra Fadnavis will become the deputy chief minister of the state on Nadda’s request.”

It is evident that the BJP has backed Shinde to claim a stake in the legacy of Balasaheb, politically decimating the Thackeray clan, which is a masterstroke. While many believe that it is BJP style politics to kick out MVA alliance from the power.

However, we are still doubtful whether making Devendra Fadnavis Deputy chief minister is certainly not a ‘masterstroke’.

No, it is not a masterstroke

Fadnavis, the king of winning elections, had taken oath two years ago at the dawn ceremony but was forced to quit four days later. Uddhav went on to demand the chief ministerial seat for himself, which gradually led to the formation of the unholy alliance of Maha Vikas Aghadi.

With Uddhav Thackeray at the helm of affairs, the state of Maharashtra witnessed chaos and anarchy. The MVA alliance not only failed to increase the economic prospects of Maharashtra but also went numb after Palghar lynching of Sadhus and the death of Sushant Singh Rajput among others.

It was only Devendra Fadnavis who voiced his opposition against the government, which led to two big shots of the MVA government, Nawab Malik and Anil Deshmukh to face the wrath of the law for their deeds.

Simply put, Devendra Fadnavis is the stalwart leader of the saffron party without whom the party could not have managed to win the previous elections. He just excels in whatever he does. He is the one who started denting the vote banks of the MVA that led the party towards giving a remarkable performance in the local elections.

Despite this, Fadnavis has not been made the Chief Minister. However, we hope that it would not affect the party’s stature in the state and soon turns into a masterstroke that the BJP needs.
