Bollywood’s Medusa stare that every company fears

GARI

You must have heard of Midas’s touch. There was a king named Midas who used to convert everything into gold with his touch. Simply put, Midas’s touch is an uncanny ability for making profits in every venture. However, there exists a Medusa touch too. Unlike Midas, Medusa’s stare has the power to cause disasters. Bollywood seems to have been ‘blessed’ with the latter one as whatever it does and whatever it associates with, turns into a disaster.

Crypto token launched by Salman Khan drops by 90%

The cryptocurrency GARI launched by Salman Khan witnessed a dramatic loss as its value dropped by 90%, from $0.75 to below $0.1 earlier this week. If the reports are to be believed, the volume too has dropped. There were speculations that this drop experienced by the cryptocurrency could be the result of hacking. However, the Chingari Network of GARI currency released a statement on social media to refute these claims.

The reports suggest that an investor sold GARI worth $2 million which led to this strange crash. The reports also claimed that the trade of tokens worth $56.43 million is also one of the reasons that further caused the currency rate to go down. The fall of the currency rate began on Monday with an 87% drop from $0.75 to $0.1 but it slightly increased to $0.132 by Thursday.

A statement issued by GARI (Chingari Network) read, “We at GARI network announce that after a thorough evaluation there has been NO hack identified on the tokens’ side & so far this looks like a market event. We assure our community that ALL tokens are safe in the respective reserves. We are in constant touch with the exchanges & assessing the situation. We humbly request all the community members NOT to panic. We will keep everyone posted on further development.

Aamir Khan and Snapdeal controversy

E-retail firm Snapdeal invited the wrath of the public as it was associated with Aamir Khan. This happened after Aamir Khan said that “his wife suggested moving away from India because of the rising intolerance in the country.”

Apparently, the statement did not go down well with the users leading them to hit out not only at the actor but Snapdeal too whose brand ambassador was Aamir Khan.

The users also left a one-star rating for the app only because it was associated with Khan. Later, Aamir Khan’s Snapdeal contract expired and the deal wasn’t renewed by the e-commerce company.

Shah Rukh Khan criticised for endorsing fairness creams

While there’s nothing wrong with products enhancing the quality of your skin, it is not right to endorse a brand that supports the lightening of the skin. For Shah Rukh Khan, however, what matters the most is money and the values probably are not really a concern.

It was disheartening to see him in a men’s fairness cream ad where women can be seen cooing “Hi handsome, hi handsome” at him. He was called out publicly for promoting the fairness brand and was brutally slammed. However, he had said that there’s nothing wrong with men using fairness creams.

He said, “Apparently, according to research a lot of men do use fairness cream. I don’t think it’s wrong. I wouldn’t do it if it was wrong. It’s one of the highest selling creams. It’s not harmful and in no way am I selling that fair is better than dusky or dusky is better than fair. I am not that kind of person.”

These controversies are enough to understand how Bollywood’s stare can ruin everything the industry sees and promotes. Such is the Medusa stare of Bollywood that even the successful brands and e-commerce websites end up biting the dust.
