As it is a saying, human wants are always unsatisfied. The same can be seen in the entertainment industry as well, with the Bollywood stars getting desperate for their validation in the Tollywood industry. This time it includes the masqueraded rivalry between the ‘Khans of Bollywood’.
Salman Khan is a preferred choice
Recently, Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi showed his presence at the Telugu trailer launch of ‘Laal Singh Chadha’, as the Chief Guest of the event. The screening attendees included SS Rajamouli, Nagarjuna, and Sukumar.
At the event, during a media conference, Amir Khan asked Chiranjeevi why he chose Salman Khan over him for the cameo in his upcoming movie called ‘Godfather’. In regard to this, Chiranjeevi responded with practicality by saying that the character demanded an actor for his physicality.
Actor Amir Khan’s doubted question was followed by Chiranjeevi asking him whether he had any plans to do cameos in Telugu films. The Bollywood actor affirmed, “I would love to.” However, he had to experience disappointment with the selection of Salman Khan for the Telugu megastar’s recent project.
On the other hand, while clearing his stance, Chiranjeevi said, “The role was not about heart and brain, it was about physicality. So we opted for Salman.”
It’s not the first time that the entertainment industry is experiencing discord among the so-called superstars of Bollywood. Interestingly, even Amir Khan is not new to this phenomenon. He has often been ousted for his average acting skills and his choice of movies. It is evident that he is gradually facing rigorous declining popularity among the brands across categories. In addition, his public comments in the country are also a stirring cause.

Amir Khan’s desperation for being the centre of attraction
As Reported by TFI, in 2020, Aamir Khan found himself at the centre of controversy once again, and for all the bad reasons. The Bollywood actor was in Turkey to finish the shooting of his movie ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’- a copy of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump. However, his visit to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s wife Emine Erdogan on India’s Independence Day ignited clamour amongst the public.
Aamir Khan’s Turkey move was not out of the blue moon but a shuttle messaging to his support base. He had been successful at other times as well, in subtly passing on his political agenda. He was quite aware of the fan base he enjoyed and deliberately tried to fan the anti-Modi feelings and pass on the guilty judgment on him for the 2002 Gujarat Communal riots.
Bollywood actors are turning toward the Telugu industry
As reported by TFI, the Telugu film industry is incessantly growing its popularity. Due to this, various Bollywood stars are now competing to debut in the Tollywood industry. It’s a myth that Bollywood is the bigger film industry. However, the reality is entirely different.
The Telugu and Tamil film industry contributed around 47 per cent to the overall revenue share of the Indian film industry in 2019. On the other hand, Bollywood contributes a mere 40 per cent. The total revenues of both industries stood at around $2.7 billion in FY 2018-2019, as per a report released at the FICCI Frames Summit in 2020.
These stats clearly show the reality of the up-surging popularity of South-Indian films, thereby impacting the Bollywood industry. It became evident with the prevalence of Baahubali, and more recently Pushpa. According to an estimate by the Mint, South-Indian films are set to dominate the Indian cinematic space in 2022. In addition, estimates suggest that they will be taking up more than 50 per cent of total box-office collections.
All these aforementioned facts pave the way for Bollywood stars to become indulged in the Telugu industry, in order to attain their never-ending want for popularity. Therefore, the Hindi film industry’s mega stars are desperate to designate themselves as Tollywood actors.
