India will be visiting Zimbabwe for a limited-overs series next month. Apart from the T20I series, the three-match ODI series will also be given equal attention. In fact, all three One Days will be played in Harare on August 18, 20 and 22 and all the latest cricket news can be followed on crictracker.com.
Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the Indian team as a few key players including the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant have been rested for Zimbabwe vs India series.
This Zimbabwe vs India ODI cricket series will provide some of the players with an opportunity of cementing their place in the side riding on consistent performances. Without further ado, here’s a look at three of them.
Let’s look at the 3 Players to watch out for Zimbabwe vs India ODI Series:
- Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer made his ODI debut back in 2017 and was considered to be one of India’s permanent middle-order batters after the 2019 World Cup. However, a dip in form meant that he was constantly in and out of the ODI team.
In the 27 matches that he has played so far, Iyer has scored 947 runs at a strike rate of 96.04 including nine half-centuries and a century and he would be looking forward to making the most of his opportunities in Zimbabwe vs India series in order to cement his place in ODIs. Iyer can also be a part of the T20 World Cup squad and has scored 931 runs at 34.48 with a strike rate of 138.74 in his T20I career.
- Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna started his ODI career on a promising note by bagging the Player of the Series award in the home series against the West Indies earlier this year where he also registered a four-wicket haul.
However, the tall pacer has not maintained consistency since then and picked up just two wickets in the just-concluded England series. Krishna would be hoping to rediscover his rhythm with the ball in hand in the Zimbabwe ODIs.

- Shikhar Dhawan: stand-in captain for Zimbabwe vs India Series
Last, but not least, the stand-in captain Shikhar Dhawan himself would be hoping to regain his mojo on the 22 yards. It is to be noted that Dhawan is no longer in the scheme of things in the Test arena and is also not included in the T20I side regularly.
The southpaw is given a chance only in One Day Internationals as of now, but he failed to make an impression in the England series with scores of 31, 9 and 1 respectively. The senior batter must fire all cylinders in the Zimbabwe ODIs as he eyes a spot in India’s 2023 World Cup squad in the long run.
