With ideals like Moosewala, CM Like Bhagwant and MPs like Mann, Punjab is a total disaster

Punjab Disaster

A lot is happening in the country right now. Maharashtra is going through a political turmoil. Facts stated by former BJP leader Nupur Sharma are being misconstrued by angry Islamists. And Rajasthan just witnessed a communal attack. The whole nation is witnessing chaos and an anarchic situation. However, there is one state which is heading toward a complete disaster.

Punjab is a total disaster

The lawlessness in the border state of Punjab needs no introduction. The AAP government that first claimed to be ‘Kisanna di Sarkaar’ is now making the farmers run for the money. They are suffering in the state. Moreover, the existence of gangsterism, gun culture and killings are leading the state to become a hell for people. Apart from the above issues, the debt problem, the drugs problem, corruption and above all, the revival of Khalistani sentiments are contributing to making the state worst of all.

But what is the reason behind all this? Why the Punjab is gradually turning into a total disaster? Let’s find out.

Ideals like Moosewala

Not just Punjab, but the whole nation mourned when Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village of Mansa district on Sunday, May 29. The killing of such a prominent singer raised many eyebrows. While many were criticising the state government for removing his security detail despite the threat to his life, others were blaming the gun culture and drug culture prevalent in the state. But there was one thing common in all and that is the grief and pain.

Even now, Instagram is flooded with posts and stories to memorise Moosewala as the legend. His fans idealise him and believe him to be politically and ideologically correct too. Dare you to utter a single word against his support for Khalistan, his fans will thrash you.

But I dare to ask a question. While the way he was murdered is absolutely shameful and those behind the killing should be punished, does any of this make him less criminal and anti-national? Does the death absolve any of the sins of Moosewala?

Many of you may believe so. But even after his death, Khalistani sentiments are being nurtured using his songs in which he openly justified whatever transpired last year during farmers’ protests and Khalistani activities.

For those unaware, a controversial song titled SYL was released a few days back. The song was sung and written by Sidhu Moose Wala. As its name suggests, the song is in relevance to the under-construction Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal that has been at the centre of a prolonged dispute between Punjab and Haryana. The SYL song also includes undivided Punjab, 1984 riots, Sikh prisoners, and the flag hoisting at the Red Fort during the farmer’s agitation.

The song features some controversial personalities like Balwinder Singh Jatana who is a member of a pro-Khalistan group Babbar Khalsa. Visuals of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Balwant Singh Rajoana, and Jagtar Singh Hawara were also a part of the music video.

Dead or alive, anyone nurturing anti-national sentiments should never be idolised, and Punjab, currently, is doing the same.

CM like Bhagwant Mann

Ever since Bhagwant Mann took oath as the Chief Minister, the state of Punjab is witnessing a downfall in the economy, infrastructure, health, and whatnot.

Punjabi farmers are committing suicide at a rate unparalleled in the country. According to Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan), within 60 days after April 1, 55 farmers have committed suicide. According to a daily pioneer report, 14 of these 55 farmers died in the first 25 days of April. Later when it was confirmed that wheat crops are not going to pick up momentum, 41 more farmers commit suicide.

Moreover, as reported by TFI, after becoming the Chief Minister, Mann had met the Prime Minister and immediately brought out the begging bowl in front of him. Mann informed PM about the financial condition of the state and told him that there is debt worth Rs 3 lakh crores. Further, he demanded a special package for Punjab worth Rs 50,000 crores for two years to improve the state’s financial condition.

Apart from these issues, the state is already witnessing a drug problem. The debt-ridden are fighting the menace of drugs. Meanwhile, the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala has exposed the existing gangsterism in Punjab. The increasing gun culture and violence have turned a beautiful Punjab state into disaster and a dangerous place and living hell.

However, Bhagwant Mann is busy opposing the saffron party on the recently introduced Agnipath scheme. Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government is planning to bring a resolution in the State Assembly to oppose the Agnipath scheme. “Agnipath is a whimsical and irrational move of the NDA government, which will destroy the basic fabric of the Indian Army,” said CM Mann.

Not only this but the government has also decided to bring resolutions against the banning of Sidhu Moosewala’s song ‘SYL’ by YouTube on the Centre’s complaint. Mann said, “whenever a voice is suppressed, we will oppose it. We will bring resolution.”

MPs like Simranjit Singh Mann

The surprise win in Punjab of Simranjit Singh Mann in the recent by-poll from the Sangrur parliamentary seat has led the people to have anxieties and ask questions. Why you may ask? Well, Mann, an IPS officer is a staunch Khalistani supporter. He resigned from service to protest against Operation Bluestar in He reiterated his reverence for a Khalistani leader named Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

This is why his triumph has invited plenty of speculation, with some political observers attributing his unexpected success to people’s disappointment with the AAP and the revival of Khalistani sentiments, especially in the wake of Moose Wala’s murder.

Digging deep into what is transpiring in the state can shake your conscience and make you believe that Punjab has turned into a total disaster.
