In a democratic society, people have the fundamental right to seek the truth. The legal right of every citizen to know the reality should not become the victim of political propaganda. While it’s the duty of politicians to oversee the implementation of Fundamental Rights, it is the responsibility of citizens to tighten the political screws that are now loosened up in the dream of regulating dirty politics. The failure of politicians to stick to their democratic morals recently once again forced Punjab at the centre of controversies.
High Court quizzes Bhagwan Maan’s government
On 30 May, the Punjab and Haryana High Court issued a notice to the state government over the outrageous killing of Punjabi Singer and Congress member, Sidhu Moose Wala. The Court ordered the submission of a detailed report clarifying the number of people whose security was reduced or withdrawn and the reason for the move. The HC has asked the AAP government in the state to reply by 2nd June.
Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India said, “Court has issued notice to Punjab govt asking for a detailed report on the number of people whose security was taken and reason for which their security was curtailed. Reply has to be filed by the Punjab government on June 2. It is the prerogative of the state to increase or decrease security, but it is a sensitive matter. When you decrease security, it should not come into public space.”

Recently, the famous Punjabi rapper was shot dead a day after his security cover was withdrawn by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan-led government. The twenty-eight-year-old singer was killed when he was driving his Mahindra SUV in his native Mansa district of Punjab.
Security withdrawal is the reason for killing
The incident took place after a day his security was withdrawn by the state government along with other 424 people. It further resulted in the killing of such a popular personality.
On Friday, the Punjab government had ordered the withdrawal of security cover for 424 people. These people whose security has been taken away include retired police officers and religious and political leaders. The Additional DGP (security) said that the security of these people including Sidhu Moosewala is being withdrawn temporarily to address the law and order duty.
After the declaration of withdrawal of the security cover, the Punjab government published the names on that list. This move clearly posed a threat to the lives of those people as their enemies or rivals had now got the information about the removal of security. This further gave a clear opportunity to the shooters to accomplish their inhumane hunger.

AAP is the culprit
The killing of Sidhu Moose Wala has proved that Arvind Kejriwal’s party is failing to rule the state with responsibility. The incident has again proved Punjab’s CM Bhagwant Mann’s incompetence.
The official reason mentioned by the state government was clearly a safe play game. But this attempt has shown the ill-mentality of politicians that they can degrade to any extent in order to keep political propaganda alive. And this has shown that the so-called “Aam Aadmi Party” by its name wants to attract people and is now incapable of safeguarding people’s trust in them.
Shooting a popular personality in broad daylight is not an uncommon thing in Punjab. Politicians end up being scared of criminals and hence cannot maintain law and order in the state. The very fact that these politicians are in power is now compelling the citizens to rethink the existence of democracy in Punjab.
