For the past few months, China has been trying to get India on board. It even sent its higher officials to New Delhi. But, as usual, PM Modi was watchful. He waited for the perfect opportunity and it has arrived. Now, India is going to infiltrate its impact on Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the “Solidarity-2023” will be India’s launchpad.
China will be taking up joint Border operation
China will be conducting “joint border operation” with every member country which is a member of SCO. India along with other brethrens have lent their supporting hand to the Communist nation for this purpose. Apart from India; Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Iran are also part of this initiative.
The decision was taken during the 21st meeting of Experts’ Group and Border Security Conference of SCO countries from June 15-17. It was hosted by India’s Border Security Force (BSF). The meeting was attended by executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS)-SCO. A statement released by BSF said, “They (the member countries) supported the initiative of the People’s Republic of China to conduct in 2023, under its organising role, a joint border operation of the border services of the competent authorities of the SCO member states, ‘Solidarity-2023’,”
Currently, India is heading SCO-RATS which determines SCO’s course of action on terrorism related issues in the region. Under India’s watch, China will be coordinating with various border agencies of other countries for the operation.
Internal differences in SCO
Now, the leftist media has projected this news as India is falling under China’s sphere of influence. But, that is not true. The fact of the matter is that except for Pakistan, China cannot call any other country in the SCO grouping as its friend. In fact, even Pakistan is also hanging behind it like a leech, sucking money from it. But, you may ask, what about Russia?
Let me open your eyes to geopolitical reality. It may look as if China and Russia are close, but Russia approaches China only with a safety valve. China has a habit of backstabbing and Russia has also felt it. In fact, quite recently, China did not back Russia in the UNSC. Additionally, Putin has also been wary of China’s inclination to increase tensions on Russia’s far-east borders.
India to take advantage of the equations
All these equations leave China with no ally in the region. So, it was obvious for Xi Jinping administration to focus on increasing bonhomie with its neighbours by taking the support of multinational organisations. After watching its declining reputation in BRICS, China choose SCO to get its neighbours on board.
But, as they say, value is subject to every measure, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. In the past India has treated almost every multilateral organisation China formed as a trash. In fact, PM Modi once used SCO to embarrass China as well.
However, for China, SCO is a treasure. Because, India is still a key part of the grouping, India decided to leverage its influence as well. Now, the time has come when India should increase its status in SCO and weed out China’s influence. And except Pakistan, every country will be standing with India.
