Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain was born on October 2, 1997, in the Golaghat district of Assam. She started out as a kickboxer but subsequently decided to become a boxer. Lovlina is a young woman who cares deeply about her family and her neighbors. I shouted at her that she had the attention of all of India and that she could create her own narrative in an effort to inspire her.” She earned the bronze medal after losing to eventual Tokyo gold champion and world no. 1 Busenaz Sürmeneli in the semifinals.
Career and Achievements
At the tryouts held by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) at her school, Lovlina Borgohain began her boxing career. She eventually caught Padum Boro’s attention, who agreed to mentor her. Later, she began receiving instruction from Shiv Singh, the head coach of women’s boxing.
India’s national and international representation has been handled by Borgohain since 2016. She won gold at both the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and the first India Open International Boxing competition.
At both the World Championships and the Asian Women’s Championships in 2017, she won a bronze medal. Additionally, she took home a silver medal and third place in the 69 kg welterweight division at the second India Open International Boxing Tournament.
Lovlina Borgohain competed in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) after winning the India Open in 2018, but she lost to British player Sandy Ryan in the quarterfinals. She took home bronze at the President’s Cup and the Asian Boxing Championships in 2017.

As the youngest of three sister-siblings and a former Muay Thai practitioner, Lovlina became interested in boxing after seeing her twin sisters Licha and Lima take up kickboxing and decided to follow the same path.
Borgohain took part in tryouts held by the Sports Authority of India at her high school, Barpathar Girls High School. At the SAI STC Guwahati beginning in 2012, she was seen and chosen by famous Coach Padum Chandra Bodo to master the fundamentals of boxing and to achieve excellence in the sport.
She later received coaching from Sandhya Gurung.
