Rachel Shelley is an English actress and model who was born on August 25, 1969. She is best recognized for her roles in the Showtime series The L Word as Helena Peabody and the Oscar-nominated Bollywood film Lagaan as Elizabeth Russell. Shelley is best recognized for her role as Helena Peabody on Showtime’s The L Word. Elizabeth Russell in the Oscar-nominated Hindi film Lagaan in 2001, and the beauty whose sad loss drives Charles Castle insane in the 1997 film Photographing Fairies are among her other roles.
In the popular BBC medical drama Casualty, she played Yvonne Rippon, a police superintendent who had a connection with established character Nick Jordan, in 2012 and early 2013.
On January 19, 2013, Shelley announced her departure from the series.
Shelley has written pieces for The Guardian and DIVA Magazine in addition to acting.

Rachel Irene Shelley was born on August 25, 1969, in Wiltshire, England, and spent much of her childhood in London. She is the youngest of four siblings, with two older brothers and an older sister.
Shelley spent three years as a youngster in Malta before returning to Huntingdon to attend school.
She joined a local theatre group in Edinburgh and founded a community theatre company in Sheffield after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a B.A. Hons in English and Drama in 1992.
She then moved to London to pursue her acting career.
