Rahul Gandhi is such a gem of a character that he can lighten up the political sphere with his goof-ups. Rare are the moments when the politician within him corners the government and criticises it on issues that are for public good. One such moment was behind us when inflation was slowly creeping up in the Indian economy but this rare opportunity was snatched by the so-called fascist government. The Finance Minister had no rights to bereft India of such an able leader.
Finance Minister smashes the Inflation ball out of the Park
The COVID pandemic disrupted the global supply chains and ruined many nations’ economies. Before these tremors could stabilise, the global economy worsened thanks to the Ukraine-Russia war. These major events led to a rise in global oil prices resulting in a cascading effect and Inflation in all the major economies of the world. Many experts have termed it as Bidenflation because of his alleged failures and efforts in deepening the Ukraine-Russia war.

Contrary to this, the Opposition in India rallied against the government. They tried to project it as a result of failures of the ruling government and tried to score political brownie points out of it. But the latest slew of measures by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has punched this overly filled balloon of the opposition. In a Twitter thread, she made a few major announcements to curb the rising inflation in India and effectively slashed the petrol and diesel prices by Rs 9.5 and Rs 7 per litre respectively.

1/12 Our government, since when @PMOIndia @narendramodi took office, is
devoted to the welfare of the poor. We’ve taken a number of steps to help the poor and middle class. As a result, the average inflation during our tenure has remained lower than during previous governments.— Nirmala Sitharaman (Modi Ka Parivar) (@nsitharaman) May 21, 2022
She also announced a subsidy of Rs 200 per gas cylinder to over 9 crore Ujjwala beneficiaries. In addition to these, the FM also calibrated custom and import duties to reduce the burden on the general public. With these, the government has foregone a total net worth of more than Rs 1 lakh crore per year. This will ease the lives of the poor and middle class which had to face the brunt of Bidenflation. This is a major jolt to FM Nirmala Sitharaman’s naysayers. Some seasonal economists try to lecture her on how to manage a large economy like India with no facts on their hands. With her splendid work, she had been giving it back in kind to her haters and this announcement was a repetition of it. The naysayers had a bad day after this announcement and tried to spin it as an effect of Rahul Gandhi’s Pressure politics on the government.
Bad day for Nirmala Sitharaman haters.

Some of the netizens claimed that if it is so then they should remain forever in opposition and keep on doing this.

Keeping aside the lighter moments the netizens are having; these announcements reflect that the government is serious in tackling the ‘Global shock-induced’ inflation. It also re-emphasises the commitment of the government to fight Inflation and stick to its target of 2-6% Inflation. Furthermore, the government has been seriously deliberating on introducing the Petrol and Diesel Prices in the GST regime to ease the burden of these on the general public.
