Amit Shah went to Telangana and struck the first blow on the TRS empire

Amit Shah KCR

The BJP has been a juggernaut since the 2014 General election. One of the major reasons behind this successful phenomenon is Amit Shah. He has been planning the strategies for the BJP and has been highly successful in taking the party to zenith. Now the BJP’s master strategist has aimed to topple the TRS government in Telangana. His latest speech targeting the ruling TRS gives clear indication of what lies ahead in the Telangana assembly elections in 2023, that is, TRS vs BJP.

Amit Shah sounds the poll bugle in Telangana

On 14th May, Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the ruling TRS government in Telangana. He addressed a huge gathering which was held to culminate the second phase of the padayatra, started by the state BJP chief. Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar had started the “Praja Sangrama Yatra” in the state to listen to the public voice and garner support for the saffron party.

The BJP stalwart Amit Shah said that the “Praja Sangrama Yatra” held by the state BJP president was not for BJP to form the government but to herald the welfare of Dalits, Adivasis, backward classes, farmers, women and youth. More so, to end the family rule and to uproot the corrupt TRS from power.

In his speech, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a potshot at the TRS’s symbol, that is, car. He attacked the TRS and said that its steering is in the hands of AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. He compared the TRS regime with Nizam and asked the public, “Do we need to change the Nizam of Telangana or not”. He lambasted KCR for not celebrating the ‘Telangana liberation Day’  and said it is all due to the “fear” of AIMIM. He made a promise that if BJP comes to power they will celebrate it. Just for a reminder Telangana liberation day is celebrated because on this day the erstwhile Nizam government was forced to merge with India in 1948.

Furthermore, Amit Shah declared that if the BJP forms the government in the state it will end minority reservations in the state and provide the benefit to STs, SCs and backward classes. He hit at the KCR government for not implementing its poll promises and failing in providing the three main demands that were used during the state formation, that is, “water, funds and jobs”. He exposed the TRS government and said that it is just taking credit for the schemes and work done by the central government. He apprised the public about the spending the central government has done for the welfare of the state. Shah said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave over Rs 2.52 lakh crores for Telangana’s development.

TRS: Corrupt and Barbaric for opponents

The Union Home Minister accused that the Telangana CM KCR wants to turn the state into Bengal and is showing high-handedness against BJP activists. This remark came in the wake of alleged suicide of a BJP activist Sai Ganesh at Khammam due to “police harassment”. He said that the BJP would ensure that those responsible for the party worker’s death would be put behind bars. He also slammed the ruling party over their alleged corruption.

The earlier jibes by Telangana CM KCR

The politicians have a deeper understanding when it comes to analyse the behavioural change in the society and changing political landscape. For that reason alone, it can be seen that political parties quickly judge who their main opponents will be in the near future. The TRS government led by K Chandrashekar Rao has been targeting the BJP for quite some time now. At once he said that the saffron party, that is, BJP should be thrown into the Bay of Bengal.

The BJP has been emerging as the major opposition party in the state and with declining TRS, the state may be saffronised by the party’s success. Earlier the BJP succeeded in winning two Assembly by-polls and made significant gains in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

The BJP leaders are 24 by 7 politicians and the party has been able to shatter many previous records on the basis of its last-mile delivery schemes. With these schemes, it has been able to unite people beyond caste lines and has obliterated many parties. The TRS led by KCR is seeing the writing on the wall and that is why it is giving provocative statements against the PM, BJP and badly handling the BJP workers. Hence, it will be interesting to see whether it would keep on doing the same politics or distance itself from the AIMIM party and deliver on its poll promises. The BJP’s master strategist visit has paved a way for a saffron wave in the state and has set the tone for the upcoming state election, sending the ruling party in a frenzy to course correct or lose the state.
