Kunal Kumar Singh, better known by his stage name Kunal, was an Indian actor who primarily appeared in Tamil films. He is best known for playing the lead in Kathir’s Kadhalar Dhinam (1999), after which he went on to appear in 16 more films. He died mysteriously on February 7, 2008. Career
Kunal Kumar Singh debuted alongside Hindi actress Sonali Bendre in Kathir’s love flick Kadhalar Dhinam in 1999. He portrayed a young student who meets Bendre’s character on the internet and falls in love with him. Kunal featured in a succession of films after the success of Kadhalar Dhinam, including Paarvai Ondre Pothume (2001) and Punnagai Desam (2002).
Following that, he appeared in a string of flops, including Pesadha Kannum Pesume, Enge Enadhu Kavithai, and Unarchigal. Nava’s Nilavinilae opposing Vijayalakshmi, Kimu Kipi opposite Susan, and Rithik’s Kadhalithal Anandam, which would have starred him alongside Livingston and Kausalya, were all started to and then shelved.
In addition, two films in which he had cast actress Sherin Shringar, Jai Adithya’s Kadhal Thiruda and Nanda’s Thodu, were shot but never released.

Mysterious death of Kunal Kumar Singh
Kunal Kumar Singh, a South Indian actor who starred alongside Sonali Bendre in Dil Hi Dil Mein, allegedly committed suicide in his Mumbai flat. Actress Lavina Bhatia noticed the actor hanging from his apartment’s ceiling fan and phoned the cops.
Kunal, who was working on the film Yogi at the time, met the scriptwriters, costume designers, and actress Lavina Bhatia a few hours before at his home, according to a report in The Times of India.

Lavina claimed to have gone to the bathroom for ten minutes and returned to find him hanging from the ceiling, according to the report.
While a lacklustre career is suspected to have contributed to Kunal’s suicide, the report also suggests marital strife. Kunal’s wife Anuradha reportedly learned about his proximity to a co-star and the two had regular disagreements about it.
At the time of the occurrence, his wife and two children were reported to have gone to her maternal house in Ahmednagar. Kunal Singh’s suicide, like so many others, remains a mystery.

Kunal Kumar Singh had attempted suicide a few months before by slicing his wrists. Kunal was working on a Hindi film called Yogi, which his newly created production firm Balagiri was producing at the time of his death. The case was sent to the CBI and All India Institute of Medical Sciences by Professor T D Dogra. Along with CBI, he studied the crime scene and recommended suicide.
