The Bharatiya Janata Party takes the AAP seriously. It recognises AAP as a threat, and there is no shame in admitting the same. Only when you recognise your enemy as real and treat their threat with credibility will you be able to overcome the challenges they pose. You see, Arvind Kejriwal has the really bad habit of getting on the nerves of the BJP’s top leadership. Now, Kejriwal controls a full-fledged state in the form of Punjab. He is the de facto Chief Minister of Punjab, apart from also pretending to govern Delhi.
Before AAP won the Punjab polls, Arvind Kejriwal was not in control of any police force. He more or less had the powers that the head of a municipal corporation does. Therefore, when AAP won Punjab and Kejriwal became its de-facto ruler, the Punjab Police was weaponised as a tool for political vengeance.
Guess whom Arvind Kejriwal chose to illegally target using Punjab Police? The BJP. Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, a vociferous AAP critic was allegedly kidnapped by the Punjab Police, he was manhandled and denied his right to wear a turban before being arrested and locomoted across state lines. When Arvind Kejriwal tried to act smart with one of the saffron party’s leaders and used Punjab Police to harass and intimidate not just him, but also his family, the top leadership of the BJP drew a red line.
AAP Messes with the Wrong People
If Kejriwal controls Punjab Police, the central government controls more agencies than AAP can possibly count. Therefore, just a day after Kejriwal tried strongarming Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, the Central Bureau of Investigation landed in Punjab and conducted raids on the premises of an AAP MLA.
That’s right. Aam Aadmi Party is a corrupt organisation that claims to have a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. Remember how Bhagwant Mann tried to fool the people of Punjab by launching a 24 X 7 complaint number that can be used by people of Punjab to place their corruption-related complaints? Turns out, it was all a big fat lie.
The CBI on Saturday searched premises associated with AAP MLA from Punjab, Jaswant Singh. The AAP MLA is reportedly involved in a massive banking fraud amounting to ₹ 40.92 crore. According to a statement by the CBI, cash worth ₹16.57 lakh (approx), around 88 foreign currency notes, some property documents, several bank accounts and other incriminating documents were found and recovered during the searches.
A company in which Jaswant Singh serves as a director was sanctioned loans at four intervals from 2011-2014 by the Bank of India. According to the CBI, “It was alleged that the firm through its directors had concealed hypothecated stock and diverted book debts with mala fide and dishonest intention so that the same were not made available to the creditor Bank for inspection and for effecting recovery as secured creditor.”
Minority Commission Breathes Fire Down Kejriwal’s Throat
Separately, the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) on Saturday took suo-moto cognizance of reports which said that Tajinder Singh Bagga was not allowed to wear his turban during his arrest by Punjab police.

In a letter to Punjab chief secretary, the commission said, “The Commission has taken suo-moto cognizance of the media reports that Tajinder Singh Bagga, a person belonging to Sikh Minority community, was allegedly not allowed to wear his turban during his arrest by Punjab police on May 6, 2022. This is a serious case of violation of the religious rights of a Sikh person. You are, accordingly, requested to submit a factual report on the alleged incident and media report within 7 days that is latest by May 14, 2022 to the Commission.”
The Aam Aadmi Party has landed itself in completely avoidable trouble. Kejriwal thought he was the only macho man around. Now, he is being slapped with one rude shock after the other.
