Lack of transparency and accountability is the root cause of corruption. To weed out corruption from the state, CM Yogi Adityanath is taking strong steps to curb the menace of both these evils. Now, he has set his eyes on eliminating corrupt and incompetent bureaucrats of the state.
Asset Declaration – Transparency and Anti-Corruption Drive
Ever since he took over the responsibility of taking UP forward, CM Yogi has been working round the clock to make the state number 1 in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). He firmly believes that UP has the potential to beat Maharashtra. For this, he wants to weed out corruption and improve the efficiency of the state machinery. Law and order have visibly improved. With corrupt practices, Ministers and bureaucrats in the past had amassed immeasurable wealth. Striking a hammer on this, the UP CM has made it compulsory for the bureaucrats, officials and Ministers to declare their whole family’s movable and immovable properties and assets. The CM has allotted a stipulated time period of three months and has directed the officials to publish the details of assets on an online portal. It will make it easier for the general public to see and provide information in case of any dispute or undisclosed asset by a Minister or bureaucrat. He also directed the Ministers to refrain from involving family members in any government operation.
CM Yogi said, “The conduct of public representatives is very important for a healthy democracy. According to this spirit, all the honorable ministers should make a public declaration of all movable and immovable property of themselves and their family members within a period of the next three months after taking oath. The code of conduct prescribed for the ministers should be strictly followed while ensuring the compliance with the provisions of the Representation of the People Act in letter and spirit.”
