The BJP is an election machine, it assumes every election as an equal one and puts all their time and energy behind it. The Opposition’s habit of taking a nap after every election has left them nowhere. If they want to compete with BJP they have to live and die by politics day in and day out.
The SP Rout
In the recently concluded MLC election, the results clearly indicate that the Samajwadi Party has not sincerely analysed their defeat in the Uttar Pradesh assembly election which culminated in a repeat term for the incumbent Yogi Adityanath. The SP has not made any changes in its election strategy and hence the party is suffering the same fate again and again.
The Saffron party has won 33 out of 36 MLC seats which went for polling. The Samajwadi Party has failed to win even a single seat. The matter of fact is that the process of MLC elections is totally different from the general and assembly elections. The Samajwadi party can’t use the same excuses here such as the rant on EVM. It has to be seen if the party will analyse this annihilation or vent their anger on everything under the sun.

The different paths after UP elections
Whatever the result of the elections comes, all candidates and parties try their best to cover as much part of the state as they can. This needs their time and energy. While the Opposition takes a lot of time for re-energising, the BJP leaders start campaigning in the new poll states without a delay of a blink of a second. The same has happened many times. For instance, after the assembly elections in five states, the opposition is not much seen on the ground while the leaders of the BJP have hit the ground running in upcoming poll states. PM Modi went on a Gujarat trip the very next day of counting, BJP President JP Nadda is strengthening the party in Himachal Pradesh.
The SP’s Conundrum
As mentioned above, the BJP is making a strategy for new elections. The Samajwadi Party is seeing internal revolts. The Chacha-Bhatija feud is brewing again and talks in town suggest Shivpal may be seriously considering the idea of joining BJP or merging his party with the BJP. To rub salts on Akhilesh’s wound, the Muslim big-wigs of the party are not singing praiseworthy tones. Senior leader and Sambhal MP have recently taken a hit at the party chief, Akhilesh Yadav. If the Party chief doesn’t pay heed to these predicaments, the party may be on the brink of implosion.
The opposition has to come out of the blame all phase and do a thorough analysis of the elections and need to understand the ground sentiments, what echoes with the general masses and what are the positives of other parties can imbibe within their party. For instance, this lethargic strategy should be given up asap and the opposition has to hit the ground running, as a strong opposition, which keeps the government in check, is always in the interest of the nation, sadly which is currently lacking.
