Career
Kakar made her debut with the title song from Gulraj Singh’s Tutiya Dil (2012), which she performed with Ram Sampath. She then starred alongside Akshay Deodhar and her twin sister Sukriti Kakar in the Nasha (2013) tune “Goti Song.”
Her role in the song was understated, much like her second release later in the year, Meet Bros’ Boss title track. “I Paid a Bribe” and the Shankar Mahadevan Academy released another rendition of her “Mujhse Hogi Shurvaat” as an anti-corruption movement. The song is performed by Mahadevan, Sukriti Kakar, and Chetan Naik, in addition to Kakar.
The song was nominated for the 2014 Honesty Oscars in the category of best activist anthem.
Ankit Tiwari heard Kakar singing in a fashion show in June 2014 and invited her to join his shows as a female vocalist. She was then approached about singing for the Alone song “Katra Katra” (2015). The recording took two hours, including her own minor inflections and modifications.
