Family of Arunoday Singh
Singh is the grandson of Arjun Singh, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and the son of Ajay Singh (Rahul bhaiya), the state assembly’s leader of opposition.
Education
He was schooled in a boarding school in Kodaikanal, where he acted in school plays, and is a Brandeis University alumnus. According to him, he chose to pursue acting after seeing actor Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront (1954). He took a few courses at the New York Film Academy following graduating, and then joined the Acting Studio in New York, where he also participated in plays.
Career Biography of Arunoday Singh
After finishing his education, Arunoday Singh began auditioning and made his acting debut in Piyush Jha’s film Sikandar (2009), in which he played a Kashmiri terrorist.
His second film was Aisha (2010), an ensemble romantic comedy-drama directed by Rajshree Ojha and co-starring Sonam Kapoor, Abhay Deol, Ira Dubey, Cyrus Sahukar, Amrita Puri, Anand Tiwari, and Lisa Haydon, in which he played Dhruv Singh, a flirtatious playboy.
In the same year, he co-starred with Konkana Sen Sharma Raima Sen in Vinay Shukla’s Mirch, a collage of five stories about gender and sexuality, in which he played the principal part of a struggling film director.
Arunoday Singh married Lee Elton, whom he met three years ago in Goa, on December 13, 2016. Lee is the owner of a cafe in Goa.
In Sudhir Mishra’s Yeh Saali Zindagi, he appeared with Irrfan Khan and Aditi Rao Hydari, another debutant (2011). At the 18th Screen Awards, he was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance. He then starred alongside Sunny Leone and Randeep Hooda in Jism 2. In 2014, he starred alongside Varun Dhawan, Ileana D’Cruz, and Nargis Fakhri in David Dhawan’s comedy film Main Tera Hero, as well as in the supernatural thriller Pizza.
Mr. X, in which he played Dr. Steve Rhodes opposite Emraan Hashmi and Amyra Dastur, was his next film. Singh starred alongside Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in Ashutosh Gowariker’s epic adventure romance film Mohenjo Daro in 2016.
