In the job-seekers circle, the Modi Government is often incorrectly villainized for not providing job opportunities. However, the facts tell a totally different story. It is Congress (more specifically Ashok Gehlot) that is creating new records when it comes to keeping people unemployed.
Unemployment figures rise in Rajasthan
An independent report has revealed that the Ashok Gehlot administration has left no stone unturned in destabilizing Rajasthan families. The unemployment rate in the Congress-ruled state has skyrocketed to 32.3 per cent, the highest in the country of 29 states.
Breakdown of unemployment numbers shows that the situation is worse than what it looks like on the surface. Every second graduate you will meet in Rajasthan has no means to earn a livelihood that provides even a minimum wage. 20.67 lakh graduates in the western state are currently unemployed. This is a remarkable increase compared to the unemployment rate when the previous BJP government was in charge. After Ashok Gehlot came to the power, the number of unemployed graduates in the state has increased fourfold.

Corruption is the reason
Talking about the cumulative figures, 65 lakh total Rajasthanis are roaming unemployed. It is approximately 32.3 per cent of those people who are eligible to join the workforce. Compared to 2016, when the Vasundhara Raje administration was in charge, the unemployment percentage has increased by nearly 8.5 times. During BJP days, only 3.8 per cent of eligible Rajasthanis were unemployed.
According to experts, incessant corruption in Rajasthan is the main reason behind such high unemployment figures in the state. According to a report by ABP News, recently more than 16,500 people were left in the doldrums when the Ashok Gehlot government cancelled the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET 2022). Apparently, the examination was cancelled because the Paper of the prestigious test was leaked.

Future Course of action does not inspire confidence
To quell public anger, the Gehlot administration has resorted to increasing Babus in government offices. In his Budget 2022 proposal, Ashok Gehlot announced that his administration will fill up more than 1 lakh vacant government job posts. He also announced that a Rajasthan Industrial Security Force (RISF), along the lines of CISF at the centre, will be formed. At least 2000 security personnel are expected to be recruited. Rajasthan Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has also released a calendar regarding the recruitment of 20,000 staff in the upcoming 10 months.
However, fulfilling these aforementioned promises is going to be a tedious task for the Gehlot administration. Corruption has spread to bureaucratic levels in Rajasthan. Even the administrative services are not free of this mud. Recently, Rajasthan administrative service (RAS) was in controversy over a discrepancy in the examination. The lower court had ordered it to cancel the declared result, which was later overturned by the High Court. This kind of Court order only worsens the trust deficit among unemployed people and the government.
Problems due to unemployment
Unemployment is creating all sorts of ruckus in the state. The data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) shows that the state of Rajasthan registered the highest number of rape and attempt to rape cases for two successive years- 2019 and 2020. As per the latest data available from Rajasthan police, the number of rape cases in 2021 was higher than even in 2019 and 2020. There were 5,997 rape cases in 2019 and 5,310 such cases in 2020. But last year, the number went up to 6,337 cases.

The citizenry trusts the government to take care of their basic needs. If the government fails to do so, they slowly start to lose trust in the morality of society. Under no circumstance should a politician forget that, let alone Ashok Gehlot.
