Islamists have issued “Death Threats” to Judges of Hijab Verdict. We know where you go for a morning walk, your family visits Udupi Mutt. Don’t blame us if you are rammed by a car in a morning walk, like that of Jharkhand Judge.
The Backdrop
The three-Judge bench consisting of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justice Krishna Dixit, Justice Khazi M Jaibunnisa ruled against various petitions of students and Islamic organizations. The petition was against a government order dated 5th Feb 2022 for “student uniform” in educational institutions.
The court ruled against the petition seeking to allow students to bear hijab. The court opined that HIjab doesn’t come under Essential Religious Practice (ERP). The Court justified the need for Uniforms in certain institutions for discipline, harmony, a spirit of common brotherhood and a sense of uniformity and equality. We can’t imagine schools without uniforms, stated the court.

Protests against the Court’s Verdict
Several Islamist organizations are protesting against the court verdict. Some have called for the Karnataka Bandh. Some of the Islamic radicals have given death threats to the judges of this case. Functionaries of Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaat (TNTJ)
have been seen in some viral videos threatening the judges of ill-fated demise like the fate of Jharkhand Judge going on a morning walk, hit by a car.
Threats, like we know where you go for a walk and go Udupi mutt with family members, have been made in the circulating video. The Tamil Nadu Police has arrested two accused, Kovai Rahmatullah from Tirunelveli and Jamal Mohammed Usmani from Thanjavur. Both are TNTJ’s top functionaries.

Government’s action
The government is acting tough on these hardliner radical Islamists. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai condemned the incident and called for strict action against all such radicals. He said, “ Being in favour of community is not secularism, that is communalism. I condemn this, we all should stand together. The government will condemn this.” The Chief Minister also informed that he’s giving ‘Y’ category security to the Judges of the Hijab Verdict Case.

The Selective Acceptance of Law, Constitution & Court’s Verdict
This outrage, hateful and violent at some places, after an unfavourable court verdict is not a new phenomenon. This has been continuing for a very long time now. Be it in Triple Talaq, Ram Mandir or court observations on Uniform Civil Court etc. shows their selective belief in law and the institutions responsible to uphold this.

The ransacking of properties, violent protests, arson and killing of innocent people in certain areas after an unfavourable verdict has to be dealt with, with very firm hands to maintain the dignity of these institutions otherwise this Talibanized mentality of my way or highway will rack havoc in India as it has done in some Radicalised Islamic States.
Ya Allah ! Soon we may see another painful movie – The Judiciary Files 😳
One side benefit of these threats on the judges be that the SC judges’ hands are tied now. If they give judgement in favor of the Hijabi movements, they will be branded as cowards and gave judgement to save their lives. In fact, it may even push the SC judges to dare the Islamists.
