Saranya Mohan (born February 19, 1989) is a former Indian actress who is most known for her roles in Malayalam and Tamil films. She has also appeared in films in Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Saranya Mohan short biography

Saranya Mohan and Kalamandalam Devi’s eldest daughter. She has a younger sister, Sukanya, who is a classical dancer as well. Saranya’s parents are both trained classical dancers and dance teachers, and they own the Y.K.B Dance Academy in Alappuzha, where she learned to dance bharatanatyam. She earned her B. A. in English literature from St. Joseph’s College for Women in Alappuzha. Chidambaram received her MA in English Literature from Annamalai University, and her MFA in Bharatanatyam from the same institution.

Career

Biography of Saranya Mohan is incomplete without talking about her career and films. Malayalam director Fazil, who had seen Saranya dancing at her dance school, brought her to light. He cast her as a kid character in the 1997 Malayalam film Aniyathi Pravu and its Tamil version, Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, after approaching and persuading her parents. Following that, she appeared as a kid artist in the popular Malayalam film Harikrishnans, starring Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Juhi Chawla.

Then she appeared as a kid artist in Rakthasakshikal Sindabad, a Malayalam film starring Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi. She then took a pause to focus on her studies before appearing in a supporting part in another Fazil film, Oru Naal Oru Kanavu (2005), in which she played the male lead character’s sister.

Her subsequent release, the Dhanush-Nayantara starrer Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008), brought her into limelight. Her comedic performance as the younger sister to the lead female, who has a crush on her sister’s love interest, won her fame and many accolades.

Saranya Mohan subsequently appeared in 3 more Tamil films in 2008, which, however, were less successful. These included the 1st one Jayamkondaan, next was Mahesh, Saranya Matrum Palar & finally Panchamirtham along with Jayaram . In 2009, she had six releases, four of which being Tamil projects.

Out of her Tamil releases, the tragedy sports film, Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, directed by debutante Suseenthiran, and the supernatural thriller Eeram proved to be commercially as well as critically successful. The other two Tamil movies were A Aa E Ee with Prabhu Sir & another Tamil movie was Arumugham with Bharath and Priyamani in lead roles.

She made her Telugu debut with Village Lo Vinayakudu later that year, and then returned to Malayalam films with Chemistry. In 2010, she did a Telugu adaptation of her Tamil film Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu, which did well at the box office.

The next year, she starred in another Telugu film, Happy Happy Ga. In the beginning of 2011, she acted in the Malayalam film Ponnu Kondoru Aalroopam. Following that, Mukesh, Vinu Mohan, and Sarayu Mohan starred in another Malayalam film, Nadakame Ulakam. The next year, she appeared in a cameo role in the Tamil film Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai.

She also appeared in M.Raja’s Velayudham in 2011, which was a tremendous success. Her performance as Vijay’s sister received a lot of positive feedback. Innanu Aa Kalyanam, a Malayalam film, was released the following year. She also starred alongside Simbu in a film called Dharani’s Osthe, which was released at the end of 2011.

Saranya Mohan began the year 2012 with the Malayalam film Perinoru Makan. The next year, she made her Kannada debut with Ee Bhoomi Aa Bhanu, her first Kannada film.
