Singh’s statement came in the investigation of a money laundering case filed by ED which has been registered against Maharashtra Home minister Anil Deshmukh.
According to the supplementary charge sheet in the money laundering case, Singh claimed that Waze was instated due to the pressure from Aditya and Uddhav Thackeray. He even alleged that he was given important postings in the Crime Branch of the city police and was also assigned some important cases on the direct instructions from the Thackeray’s.
Sachin Waze was suspended in 2004 from the Maharashtra police force upon alleged involvement in a custodial death. Waze was accused in the alleged killing of Khwaja Yunus in police custody. Waze was reinstated as Assistant Police Inspector in 2020. He was finally sacked last year for his alleged involvement in the Antilia bomb case.
Singh has made many prior allegations against Deshmukh, but this is the first time that Singh has targeted the Thackeray’s. Home Minister Deshmukh was even compelled to resign due to his allegations and was also arrested by the agency in the same case.
Shiv Sena like always has denied the allegations. According to some media reports, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut claimed that vendetta politics has been played against Maharashtra Government. He even alleged that the Bhartiya Janta Party wants to topple the government.

Singh also accused Ex Home Minister Deshmukh of demanding a sum of Rs. 2 Crore from Waze. Singh told in his statement, ‘I would further like to add that Waze had also told me that for his reinstatement and posting, Anil Deshmukh had made a demand of Rs 2 crore.’
Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh levelled allegations against Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of allegedly demanding Rs 100 crore a month. According to Singh, this money was extorted from hotels and bars in Mumbai. As per Singh, Sachin Waze, and ACP Sanjay Patil used to collect the money on behalf of Deshmukh. After these allegations, Chandiwal Commission has been set up by the Maharashtra government to investigate the allegations.
