Girish Dattatray Mahajan is a politician from Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district. He is the current member of the Jamner Legislative Assembly. In Fadnavis’ cabinet, he served as Maharashtra’s minister of water resources, medical education, and irrigation. Girish Mahajan is a member of Maharashtra’s 14th Legislative Assembly, representing the Jamner Constituency for the sixth time.
Mahajan was born into a Marathi Gurjar family in Jamner. His father’s name is Mahajan Dattatraya Bhika.

Career of Girish Mahajan
Girish Mahajan was a member of the ABVP as a college student in 1978. He began his career with the ABVP as a grassroots organizer, painting walls and distributing political campaign posters. He was named Taluka President of the ABVP.
Mahajan’s political career began in earnest in the early 1980s, when he was elected Taluka President of Maharashtra’s Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJP’s youth wing).
Girish Mahajan was elected Gram-Panchayat Election for Jamner in 1992. For the first time in 1995, he was elected to the Maharashtra state assembly. He was elected to his fifth term as MLA in 2014. On October 31, 2014, Mahajan was sworn in as Maharashtra’s Water Resources Minister.
On November 12, 2014, his government won an oral vote of confidence, allowing it to continue to govern.
