Can Beat, Abuse Modi; says Nana Patole
Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has been caught up in controversies for his alleged defamatory statement to badmouth and beat up PM Modi.
In a purported video tweeted by Leader of Opposition and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Patole can be heard saying, “I can beat Modi, I can badmouth him. Which is why he came to campaign against me.”
Fadnavis stated, “In Punjab, the prime minister was stuck on the road for 20 minutes and the Congress chief minister there did not even take note of it.”
“Now, the Maharashtra Congress chief says he can beat up Modi and badmouth him. What is happening with Congress? The party, which at some point of time, was involved in the freedom struggle, has stopped this low,” Fadnavis tweeted.

However, Patole, after being severely bashed on the internet, defended himself saying that “Citizens had complained to him about a local goon named Modi in his constituency.”
“Let me clarify again that I was not talking about the Prime Minister, but about a local goon named Modi,” he asserted.

Chandrashekhar Bawankule – a BJP leader arrested by Nagpur Police
BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule, however, raised his voice over Patole’s statements. Maharashtra BJP Unit leaders demanded strict actions against Patole.
On January 17, Chandrashekhar, the former energy minister registered a complaint against Nana Patole in the Kuhi Police station. A day after the complaint was registered, BJP leader along with party workers began protesting at the Koradi Police station to demand a probe into the matter.
The Nagpur Police later arrested him after he refused to call off the protest despite requests made by the former.
Nagpur Police, instead of detaining Chandrashekhar, should put Nana Patole behind the bars as the latter has outraged the modesty of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
