National daily Indian Express is caught up in the controversies once again. The media organisation has made it a sole motive to report absolute falsities about the central government, army chief and almost every other thing that is in the nation’s interest. Now, it has published a fake report claiming that DGPs were not invited to the Republic Day parade. However, the claim has been refuted by CRPF itself.
Indian Express’ fake report
In an opinion piece titled “Why PM Modi wasted no time in installing Netaji’s statue” by Coomi Kapoor, published by the Indian Express, it has been claimed that DGPs were not invited to the Republic Day Parade. The report read, “The DGPs of the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITB, and SSB were not invited to the Republic Day parade. The omission is perceived as a snub to the one odd million personnel of the central forces.”
CRPF refuted the claims
Soon after the report was published, Central Reserved Police forces (CRPF) took to its Twitter handle to refute the claims. Coming down heavily on media organisation, it tweeted, “The information published in @IndianExpress that DG CRPF was not invited to Republic Day Parade is not just incorrect but also ill-intended and insulting to the Force. Shri Kuldiep Singh, DG CRPF, was invited to the Republic Day Parade which he attended.”

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police also took to Twitter to slam Indian Express. ITBP further told that it was for the 1st time that the ‘Janbaz’ bikers of ITBP displayed a brave show at the parade. It tweeted, “A newspaper published today a piece that DsG of CAPFs were not invited at the Republic Day Parade 2022. It is clarified that the DG ITBP was invited & attended the Parade. It was for the 1st time that the ‘Janbaz’ bikers of ITBP displayed a brave show at the parade.”

However, Indian Express removed the ‘Not Invited’ section under which the fake news was published. It wrote, “The last item in this article titled ‘Not invited’ was incorrect and has been removed. The error is regretted.“
It must be mentioned that false reporting by a section of Indian media, led by the Indian Express, to demean the ruling government is not new. Earlier as reported by TFI, the publication was forced to tender an apology after the marketing department of the newspaper committed a blunder while publishing the full front page advertisement of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
However, it is high time that these media houses are taken to task for such offences.
