It has been four years since Bollywood Actress Anushka Sharma was last seen acting in the film ‘Zero’. The actress since then has been accompanying her husband in almost every cricket tour along with her newly born daughter ‘Vamika’. Well, the actress after a years-long gap, is making a comeback with her upcoming film Chakda Xpress. However, the film has been declared a flop even before its release and the protagonist has to be blamed for it.
Anushka’s Chakda Xpress- a bizarre experiment
Inspired by the life of former India cricket captain Jhulan Goswami, the film titled Chakda Xpress will soon release on digital streaming platform Netflix. However, the announcement video for the film released on Thursday showed a short glimpse of Anushka playing Jhulan. Anushka can be seen donning an Indian Cricket jersey in the Netflix Original Chakda Xpress. The film will depict a few iconic moments of women’s cricket in India and how Jhulan created a history for herself in a sport that women didn’t even think of playing at that time.
While the movie is a heart-warming yet fascinating, inspiring, and thrilling tale of the cricketer chasing her dream, Anushka has heavily disappointed her fans with the nauseating accent to speak Bengali. Moreover, her portrayal as a Bengali woman depicts the misery of Bollywood when it comes to casting an actor for playing a character.

Anushka’s Chakda Xpress draws severe criticism
As soon as the video was released, netizens began criticizing the actress’ casting, as nothing about her resembled Jhulan. A Twitter user wrote, “I love Anushka but Konkona would have been perfect for the Jhulan Goswami biopic #ChakdaXpress.”

Adding to the row, another user wrote, “Aamir Khan gained 22 kgs, learnt wrestling and Haryanvi for Dangal, Whereas Anushka Sharma to play the lead in the legendary cricketer Jhulan Goswami’ biopic #ChakdaXpress, woke up and went to shoot the movie, Massive respect for her.”

Why Anushka has been cast for the role?
Isn’t it strange that Anushka, despite having merely any feature fitting perfectly with the role, has been cast for playing a Bengali cricketer? Interestingly, the actress supposedly has been cast as she is married to a cricketer, that is, Virat Kohli. However, the decision has emerged as huge bizarre as the unpleasant bronze look of Anushka with a nauseating Bengali accent will lead the movie to become a huge flop.
It is not the first time that the poor casting of a protagonist has ended up making a movie bogus. Mary Kom played by Priyanka Chopra is yet another example of Bollywood’s identity crisis. However, the victim of the crisis this time is Anushka’s Chakda Xpress. And it will have to pay a price for its poor casting.
Given these instances, it is safe to say that Chakda Xpress is a major flop even before its release.
