Sukesh Chandrasekhar, who is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail for his involvement in a Rs 200 crore extortion case, has been found to be having a splash in prison. It can be said that the man is not in prison at all. Corrupt jail officials are making sure that Sukesh Chandrasekhar spends his time in Tihar in the most luxurious manner possible, something which ordinary criminals are naturally not entitled to, since they have no money to bribe jail officials with. Not only is Chandrasekhar living life to its fullest from within Tihar, but he is also running his extortion rackets with relative ease from within prison.
If anything, Chandrasekhar’s stay in Tihar seems to have made his operations much easier. Now, authorities believe the man is in jail, and hence, incapacitated to engage in criminalities. However, Chandrasekhar availing extraordinary facilities within Tihar jail has really left jail authorities and their higher-ups with eggs on their faces.
What Does Chandrasekhar’s Stay Package at Tihar Include?
According to India Today, CCTV footage shows Chandrasekhar was using a barrack alone, which was meant to be shared with dozens of other inmates. Additionally, he had access to a mobile phone, and the area around his bed was covered with curtains to hide that. The India Today report added that Chandrasekhar was reportedly giving Rs 60-75 lakh per fortnight as a bribe for a mobile phone, which he was using to con businessmen kept inside the jail for some crime.
To hide all of Chandrasekhar’s activities and the amenities provided to him, his jail cell was allegedly covered with bedsheets to ensure CCTV cameras failed to capture illegal activities that were underway.
According to a Delhi Police charge sheet against Sukesh Chandrasekhar, the man used two mobile phones –iPhone11 and iPhone 12. Prior to Tihar, Chandrasekhar was lodged at the Rohini jail. According to the charge sheet, Sukesh paid Rs 25-30 crore to jail officers and staff in a year to ensure he gets what he wants while in jail. During his stay in jail, Chandrasekhar met and interacted with many other inmates, like the Chandra brothers, Karti Chidambaram, Moin Qureshi, Ratul Puri and others.
That’s not the end of this story. Apart from getting the facility of having guests visit him as they please, Chandrasekhar was also kept out on parole for six months. Sukesh Chandrasekhar was given a separate cell by the accused jail officials and provided a cell phone with a SIM card from a foreign country. This phone was allegedly used for extortion-related calls.
The Massive Extortion
Sukesh Chandrasekhar is no small fish. In his net, allegedly, are stars like Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi. When he was lodged at Delhi’s Rohini jail as an undertrial, Sukesh Chandrashekhar allegedly extorted Rs 200 crore from Malvinder Mohan Singh’s wife over a period of one year. He is lodged in Tihar for the same case and has 15 FIRs registered against him.
According to India Today, the Enforcement Directorate is squaring in on two more Bollywood celebrities, whose names have cropped up during the course of the investigation. Both of them were reportedly given expensive gifts by Sukesh Chandrasekhar using money he extorted.

As for Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi, Sukesh Chandrasekhar is rumoured to be dating the former. His lawyer has said as much, although the actor has denied the claim. However, the ED seems to have established that Chandrasekhar gifted both Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi expensive cars and watches.
The strictest possible action must be taken against jail authorities who provided Chandrasekhar with all that he asked for in Tihar. Furthermore, such elements must be weeded out of all Indian jails, so as to ensure no criminal makes a mockery out of India’s justice system again.
