Remember the “Ambani family says Namaste London” story? It was fake news

Reliance, London, Ambani, Fake, News

Often in left-media circles, capitalism is a term that is frowned upon. While very few have the intellectual basis to diss the existence of the system, a large majority follow the belief blindly. Naturally, big business houses and their leaders are hounded incessantly. India is no different where the elites of the Lutyens media, sitting in posh cafes of Khan Market in the capital city continue to smear businessmen, with the latest target, once again, being Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani. The recent trope the left media used was manufacturing fake news that the Ambani family was packing its bags and leaving the country to settle in the UK. Mid-day was one of the first publications to carry the news story on Thursday (November 4) with a misleading headline, “The Ambanis say Namaste London!”

In the fiction story, Mid-day reported, “Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family are likely to divide their time between London and Mumbai in the future, sources have told mid-day. The sources said the family is expected to make the 300-acre country club in Buckinghamshire, Stoke Park — acquired at a reported Rs 592 crore earlier this year — their primary residence, while dividing their time between the 49-bedroom London property and their Altamount Road home.”

The report further claimed that the property had a fully functional hospital, a temple for which the Ambanis are set to take two priests to London from Mumbai, and 40 bedrooms.

Other big publications like Economic Times, without doing any due diligence blindly reproduced a similar story, using Mid-day as its source.

Leftist trolls masquerading as intellectuals amplifying the fake news

Suhasini Haider, National Editor and Diplomatic Affairs Editor, The Hindu spread the fake news by quote tweeting, “Flight of capital, with a capital C.”

Similarly, Prashant Bhushan, the infamous lawyer, charged guilty by the Supreme Court of contempt of court didn’t let the opportunity slide by and dubbed Mr Ambani, a bhagora (deserter).

He tweeted, “Bye bye India! Namaste London! Another Bhagora?”

Similarly, Gaurav Pandhi, National Digital Media and Social Media Coordinator of Congress took to Twitter to target the Modi government using fake news. He tweeted, “The situation in India under the BJP Govt is so bad, that Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani and his family are moving to London. This dividing time between India & London is BS. The hatred spread by BJP-RSS, vindictive politics & misuse of institutions is eating everyone up!”

Reliance Industries Limited issues its statement

However, after the fake news was amplified by the known sepoys of the left-liberal brigade, the Reliance group came out with a statement to quash the rumours. It said, “Reliance Industries Limited will like to clarify that the Chairman and his family have no plans whatsoever to relocate or reside in London or anywhere else in the world.”

The statement further added, “RIL group company, RIIHL, which acquired Stoke Park estate recently, would like to clarify that its acquisition of the heritage property is aimed at enhancing this as a premier golfing & sporting resort, while fully complying with the planning guidelines & local regulations. This acquisition will add to the fast-growing consumer business of the group. Simultaneously, it will also expand the footprint of India’s famed hospitality industry globally.”

Reportedly, after 1908, the mansion, which used to be a private residence, was converted into a country club. RIL buying it for business purposes makes sense when films like James Bond have been shot there.

Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest person currently lives with his family in a 400,000 square feet Altamount road residence, Antilia, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. However, even if he was moving to the UK, it is nobody’s business.

With the toxic atmosphere created by parties like AAP, Congress, and their loud motormouth leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi against Mukesh Ambani, it feels rather normal if an individual wanted to get far away from their mudslinging activities. Furthermore, it was under the Maha Vikas Aghadi government of Maharashtra that a bomb-filled car was planted close to Mr Ambani’s residence, earlier this year.

Indian left media is fickle as they come. While big capitalistic business houses are often found guilty of trampling upon the rights of the commoners, Reliance has resolutely worked for the welfare of the public. However, hatred for one man named PM Narendra Modi has transcended into hatred for anyone that seemingly approves his working style and flourishes under it.
