Kangana Summoned by the Delhi assembly panel

Delhi Assembly panel on peace and harmony, headed by Raghav Chadha of AAP has summoned Kangana Ranaut for her comments related to the alleged link between Khalistanis and fake farmers protesting against the farm laws.

Chadha has accused Kangana of spreading hate against Sikhs from her Instagram account. Moreover, Chadha himself will be the head of the committee which will be hearing Kangana’s points and counterpoints on December 6.

The committee claims that it has received several complaints against Kangana for her allegedly derogatory remarks against Sikhs. In a statement, the committee said,  “The Committee has received multiple complaints eliciting outrageously offensive and derogatory Instagram stories/posts allegedly published by Ms. KanganaRanaut, the film actress, on her official Instagram Account namely @kanganaranaut. According to the complainants, the stories published by Ms. KanganaRanaut on her Instagram Account which has a massive reach and is being followed by around 80 lakh of people worldwide, specifically illustrates the instances which hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh Community and has a tendency to disturb the peace and harmony of the society,”

The committee which was formed after the Islamists’ led riots in Delhi in February 2020 asked Kangana to appear before them on 6th December 2020 to ‘deliberate in a more comprehensive and coherent manner’.

FIR against Kangana in Mumbai

Earlier, an FIR related to the same speech has been filed against Kangana in Mumbai. The complaint filed in Khar police station of the west Mumbai-based businessman claims that Kangana deliberately calls the year-long farm protests a Khalistani movement. She has been booked under section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code. A similar complaint has been filed by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC).

Kangana appreciated Indira Gandhi for crushing Khalistani

In her Instagram post aired on November 21, 2021, Kangana claimed that Khalistani terrorists were trying to politically arm-twist the Modi government into submission. She then went on to say that Indira Gandhi was a woman who had crushed Khalistanis under her shoes. In her post, she appreciated Indira’s anti-Khalistani stands by saying that,” let’s not forget the woman prime minister had crushed them under her shoe…no matter how much suffering she caused to this nation…she crushed them like mosquitoes at the cost of her own life…but did not allow the country to break into pieces…even decades after her death…they still shiver on hearing her name…they need gurus like her.”

Kangana and Controversies- A Short history

This is not the first time Kangana has been under controversy. After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, she openly took a stance against the Bollywood fraternity. Later, she made some politically bold statements like supporting Ram Mandir. She is also known for her open support for Prime Minister Modi. Recently, she was mired in huge controversy by opposition parties when she claimed that it’s only after PM Modi came to the power, India got its freedom in the true sense.

AAP focuses more on Kangana, rather than the development of the country’s capital

The AAP government in Delhi seems to be more in touch with political affairs in the country rather than their own people. The city of Delhi is hugely affected by the administrative and political mismanagement of the government.

With so many problems still left to solve in Delhi, the Kejriwal government’s extraordinary measure to summon Kangana in a matter which has nothing to do with their state shows where Kejriwal’s priorities lie. Rather than solving the problems of the people of Delhi, AAP seems to be trying to score brownie political points for the UP elections.
