Kolkata Police working at the behest of the Mamata Banerjee government on Wednesday (November 24) issued a summon via email to Sanjay Mishra, the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Singh Deb. He has been asked to present himself at the Narkeldanga police station on Thursday.

Mamata deploying its trusted Kolkata Police to do the dirty work
Mamata trying to go after Biplab Deb’s close aides doesn’t come as a surprise. TMC and its premise of electoral politics are built upon revenge. A few days ago, after incidents of communal tension were reported in Tripura over fake news of mosques being burnt last month, the Tripura Police apprehended several Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers in the capital city of Agartala who were still trying to ignite communal tension in the region.
The police reportedly lathi-charged the lot and set them straight for trying to fan communal discord. Moreover, with Tripura civic polls fast approaching, Mamta has deployed its trusted Kolkata Police to do the dirty work. The Kolkata Police had closed its eyes when Hindus were slaughtered across the state after Mamata won the assembly election.

TMC wants an in Tripura
Moreover, TMC is lately on a spree to load its party cadre across the country in states where it doesn’t have much foothold. It recently usurped the entire Congress High command in Meghalaya and is looking to somehow break into Tripura.
Although Tripura is a Bengali dominated state that doesn’t build up in any way as to why Mamata’s West Bengal politics will work the same way in the northeastern states. Assam’s CM Himanta Biswa and Tripura’s CM Biplob Deb’s popularity among the Bengalis in the northeast is undefeated.

Local voters not respite to TMC
Tripura is the second largest Bengali-speaking state with 65.73% Bengali speaking population followed by Assam with 28.9%, it is important to note that the Bengali culture and language is very different from that of West Bengal.
Moreover, north-eastern Bengalis are often discriminated against and treated as outsiders in West Bengal and referred to as “Prabasi Bengalis”. The people of Tripura have got the taste of development after ages and it is evident that they won’t give their key of leadership to the TMC which has become synonymous with Muslim appeasement, to expand.
Biplab Deb has been stern on TMC and its inconspicuous activities. Thus, the summon issued is nothing but a scare tactic that will not work, certainly not on Biplab and party.
