How the Chaturshringi temple was discovered
In Pune, under the peshwa regime, about 250 years ago there lived a usurer (saavakar) and a peshwa mint owner named Durlabhshet Pitambardas Mahajan, who was a very religious person and a follower of Devi Saptashringa, located in the Vani hills near Nasik. Every year on the full moon day of Chaitra, he traveled from Pune to Vani to worship the Goddess. But when he grew up, he could no longer travel, and this prevented him from attending the temples, which made him sad and due to his true devotion, the Goddess appeared before him and said that she would live next to him in the mountains in the northwest of Pune. One night, the goddess appeared to him in a dream and directed him to a mountain located in the northwestern part of Pune.
During the excavation at the designated site, a natural statue or idol was found, and a temple was built there. People usually visited every day and worshiped the Goddess with full faith. It was on the spot where Durlabhshet found the statue that he built a temple, which has since been renovated and significantly expanded.

Significance of temple
