In their bid to corner PM Modi, BJP, and right-wing activists, the liberal media is always ready to make propaganda out of thin air. The leftist media, unable to influence the netizens with concrete facts and figures are now resorting to its age-old trick to manipulate the statements and portray a false narrative by twisting the statement of P Muralidhar Rao.
Muralidhar’s actual statement
Ankur Singh, a Twitter user, uploaded the complete video of Muralidhar’s interaction with the media. In the video, we can see that during the press conference, a journalist asked him, “BJP has been known as a Brahmin-Bania party till now. Should we start calling it SC-ST-OBC party?” P Muralidhar Rao while responding to the question raised by the journalist, stated, “I have Brahmin and Baniya in my pocket…When our leaders and voters were Brahmins, you called us the Brahmin party. When there was a Baniya, you called us Baniya party.”
However, before Muralidhar could finish his sentence, the journalist interrupted him and tried to mould his statements.
Thereafter, P Muralidhar Rao clarified his statements and asserted that due to the low representation of SCs and STs in the BJP, the party is working to raise their representation and create the idea that it is a party for everyone.
Additionally, he stated, “The party and its governments are going to have special focus on scheduled tribes and scheduled castes not as vote-banks but to address their concern like backwardness, employment and education.”
Mr. Rao also claimed, “We are not leaving Brahmins, Baniyas or other sections to mould ourselves to accommodate anyone.” He further also added that in earlier times, the media would label BJP as a local party or a party for a particular caste or region. However, despite all the claims by the media, the BJP was and will remain a party for the citizens of India.
Coming from a south Indian background, Hindi is not the first language of Muralidhar. Thus, it became convenient for the leftist media to distort his statements and misuse them as an opportunity to demean Bharatiya Janta Party.
Despite urging several times to let him finish his statements, the left journalists kept interrupting him to use his words as a tool to attack the central government.
Leftist media distorted his statement
Soon after the press conference, several media houses including ANI, PTI, and NDTV went on to distort the statement and quoted, “Baniya and Brahmin mere jeb me hai.” This caused unrest in political spheres because the media outlets released it without mentioning the whole context of his statement.
To this, a Twitter user slammed the journalist for twisting Muralidhar’s statement. He wrote, “A Journalist called BJP Brahmin-Bania party, @PMuralidharRao was just answering it in the language they understand. Was interrupted and then statement twisted. Check full statement on what he actually meant.”

Soon after the statement began floating in the media circles, Congress leader Kamal Nath jumped into the bandwagon to accuse Muralidhar of insulting the Brahmin and Baniya communities.
“What kind of respect is given to those classes whose leaders played an important role in building the BJP?” Nath asked. “BJP leaders have become intoxicated with power. The BJP leadership should immediately apologise to the Brahmin and Baniya communities.”
Left media, like always, have always been cooking up baseless stories sans any proper facts and figures. And with this statement, they have shown the “authenticity” of their reports and have once again proved that they can stoop to any low to demean BJP leaders and right-wing activists.
