UAPA against Pakistan’s cheerleaders in India is a step that will go a long way in crushing anti-nationals

UAPA, Pakistan, Kashmir, India, Pakistan, Srinagar

Students at the Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar and Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) have been slapped with UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, for allegedly celebrating Pakistan’s victory against India in the ICC T20 World Cup match. Videos from GMC Srinagar that went viral on social media platforms showed female students, gathering around and celebrating Pakistan’s win by chanting the slogan “Pakistan Zindabad”.

“Some unidentified girl students celebrated Pakistan’s win inside the Government Medical College Srinagar and raised pro-Pakistan slogans against the sovereignty of India.” read the FIR (First Information Report) against GMC students. The FIR against SKIMS students, at Soura Police Station, is similarly worded. It is being reported that the students will also be barred from selection in government jobs.

Moreover, Police in Samba (Jammu) confirmed detaining “six-seven people” of Chak Manga Gujjran village near the international border for questioning, over their alleged pro-Pakistan slogans.

Deputy Commissioner Anuradha Gupta confirmed the registration of a case by stating, “We have registered an FIR and more people may be called for questioning,”. Samba SSP Rajesh Sharma added that action will be taken against those found “guilty”.

What happened in the aftermath of Pakistan’s victory?

After Pakistan comprehensively defeated India in the T20 WC, breaking the jinx of having never beaten India, the Islamists with their allegiances firmly planted towards Pakistan went absolutely berserk.

Several videos poured in from across the country on social media platforms, where the Pakistan-loving crowd could be seen shouting and celebrating the victory.

One video showed a Kashmiri student singing the Pakistan national anthem and chanting “Pakistan Zindabad’ on India’s loss, while waving her jacket.

A netizen shared the video by tweeting, “Meet Ms Arifa, MBBS, 2017 Batch, Government Medical college, Srinagar. We are proud of you Arifa for shattering all myth about oppression of freedom of expression in Kashmir. Ms Arifa can be seen standing on a table and singing the Pak National Anthem while waving her jacket..”

Another netizen shared the video of SKIMS where students, studying free of cost at the Government of India’s expense showed their true faith.

From Delhi, Aviral Sharma, tweeted, “This video is from Delhi’s Seemapuri area. Save this video. Next time you call us communal, WATCH IT.”

Mehbooba Mufti’s statement:

Defending the Muslims celebrating Pakistan’s victory to demean India, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti also tweeted, “Why such anger against Kashmiris for celebrating Pak’s win? Some are even chanting murderous slogans- desh ke gadaaron ko goli maaro/calling to shoot traitors. One hasnt forgotten how many celebrated by distributing sweets when J&K was dismembered & stripped of special status.”.

It is clear that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, the anti-national elements of the country will not be allowed to go scot-free. Supporting a country that exports terrorism and partakes in the killing of innocents means that an individual is aligned to their terrorist propaganda. The government should crack down hard, so that such indoctrination amongst the radicals is weeded out.
