In a major blow to Pakistan’s despicable agenda to pollute Kashmir with its ideology of hatred and bigotry, India has signed an accord with Dubai to build infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. The development comes amidst a resurgence in violence in the Himalayan region.
UAE’s Kashmir infra push
Dubai, a part of the United Arab Emirates, signed the memorandum of understanding to become the first foreign government to invest in the region after the abrogation of article 370 in Kashmir and the division of the Muslim-majority state into two territories directly ruled from New Delhi.
The government said, “The agreement will see Dubai building infrastructure including industrial parks, IT towers, multi-purpose towers, logistics centres, a medical college and a speciality hospital.”
Indian Trade Minister Piyush Goyal said, “The world has started to recognize the pace (at) which Jammu and Kashmir is traversing on the development bandwagon. This MoU gives out a strong signal to the entire world that the way India is transforming into a global power, Jammu & Kashmir is having a significant role into that as well.”
“The recent industrial package of ₹28,400 crore is a testimony towards ensured development,” he added.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also termed the occasion as significant for the UT of Jammu and Kashmir as this will help the UT to scale new heights in Industrialisation and sustainable growth.
UAE, an OIC member, side-lined Pakistan
It is pertinent to note that UAE (United Arab Emirates) is a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which is a powerful multilateral body consisting of declared Islamic nations exclusively, who work together in a bid to represent the Muslim brotherhood collectively. OIC is the only platform that Pakistan has for flexing its muscles. Pakistan, using this platform, keeps raking up the issue of sovereign Indian Kashmir, toeing the same-old Pakistani line on the valley. However, India has cordial relations with almost all members of the OIC, barring perhaps, Pakistan and Turkey.
Thus, UAE’s infra push in Kashmir can be seen as the victory of India when it comes to diplomatic terms with the other countries as the former has side-lined its fellow member of OIC, that is, Pakistan to better its relations with India. In addition to that, India’s deal with Dubai for Kashmir’s development also shows that the UAE has recognized Kashmir as a part of India, which is a massive blow to Pakistan.
India’s ties with the Arab world and Gulf countries have grown tremendously under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, to the extent that countries like Saudi Arabia and UAE, which not until very long ago were the godfathers of Pakistan, are today forcing their hand to maintain peace with India.

A report by Bloomberg has now revealed that the United Arab Emirates is playing the peacemaker between New Delhi and Islamabad, and has worked out a four-step “roadmap for peace” for the two nuclear-powered countries to achieve lasting peace. Earlier this month, the UAE had demanded an immediate payback from Pakistan of a $1 billion loan that had reached maturity.
The UAE has emerged as one of India’s strongest ally ever since the Modi government took over. However, The latest development is also a tight slap on Pakistan as the UAE has clearly indicated that it holds India in higher esteem as compared to Pakistan.
