On Wednesday, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee blamed the central government for her defeat in Nandigram, in the recently concluded Assembly election in May this year. She used her ‘emotional card’ as the last resort to appeal to her voters as she said that she will have to contest the by-poll elections because of BJP’s conspiracy against her.
She alleged the BJP-ruled central government of using central agencies against TMC ministers and, her party leaders are being summoned by central agencies just after the announcement of dates for the by-polls.
“Using the central agencies and muscle power, TMC was heckled by the ruling BJP during the Assembly polls. After the by-poll date was announced, the BJP government is again heckling the Trinamool leaders and ministers misusing the agencies. Just because they want to target me, Abhishek Banerjee is being called by the ED. After quizzing him for 9 hours, he is being called again the next day and that shows their intent,” Mamata Banerjee said.

She blamed the BJP for “pursuing vendetta politics’ against her nephew and party MP Abhishek Banerjee as he was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi regarding a money laundering case linked to an alleged coal pilferage scam in West Bengal.
On Tuesday, the Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the All India Congress Committee has decided not to field any candidate against Banerjee for the September 30 by-poll. Mamata goes on further to accuse the BJP of Congress’ withdrawal from the elections. “They have used the same technique and tried to intimidate Congress, Sharad Pawar, Mulayam Yadav with use of agencies,” she added, during her first poll campaign in Chetla, which was organized inside Ahindra Manch, a hall, maintaining Election Commission guidelines. “In BJP ruled states, the Trinamool is not allowed to enter. Our workers are beaten in Tripura but we have never done the same in Bengal,” Mamata said.

Mamata blamed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are using the central agencies against Trinamool leaders as “they cannot fight us politically” she added. Responding to the allegations, BJP state president Dilip Ghosh said, “We have always fought her politically. She is a non-elected MLA but she is the Chief Minister while our elected MLA is Leader of Opposition.”
Unable to digest her defeat to Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram back in May, she further states “I went to Nandigram to fight the battle as people requested me. But I have been a victim of conspiracy. Court has admitted the case as there is merit in it. Yes, I lost but not for my fault,” Mamata claimed.

Nevertheless, the Bengal government has already been facing probes over allegations of post-poll violence. The CBI is investigating the cases under judicial supervision on the orders of the Calcutta High Court.
After 10 years of Mamata Banarajee’s rule, West Bengal seems ready to get rid of her torturous regimes in the upcoming by-poll.
