The Indian Army on Sunday (September 26) arrested a 19-year old Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist named Ali Babar Patra along the Line of Control (LOC). A video released by the Army of the Pakistani terrorists talking to the media shows the teenager LeT operative confessing the role of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and Pakistani army in his training and helping him cross the border.
Ali Babar was part of a group of 6 terrorists that attempted to infiltrate the border on the intervening night of September 18 and September 19 in the Uri Sector along the LoC. After the Indian army pushed back, four terrorists retreated while one was killed. Left alone, Babar pleaded for surrender and the Indian Army captured him.

Trained by LeT, lured by money
Speaking to reporters in Uri during a press conference, Ali Babar Patra said, “After joining LeT, I got Rs 20,000 and was handed over to the ISI. Along with others trained by the Pakistan Army. My family was to be given Rs 30,000 after I got launched in Kashmir.”
Babar was trained by Lashkar in a camp in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s (PoK) Muzaffarabad for 3 months to become a terrorist.
“I had undergone three weeks of preliminary training at Garhi Habibullah Camp (KPK) in 2019 and then fresh training this year. We were given instructions to reach Pattan where to be contacted by someone and then launched. We were supposed to get there with arms and ammunition and wait for the next orders.”
Not possible to cross the border without Pakistan Army’s help: Babar
Exposing the Pakistani Army, Babar said, “No civilian can cross over without the Pakistan Army’s hand in it. Why aren’t there such tanzeems in India who send people across? I want to tell youth like me in Pakistan this jihad is wrong,”
Babar added that youth like him were being misguided in Pakistan in the name of Jihad and that the Indian Army had taken good care of him. “We were told that the Indian Army is carrying out a bloodbath, but everything is peaceful here. I want to tell my mother that the Indian Army has taken good care of me.”
A ploy to replicate Uri attack
The purpose of infiltration was to initiate an attack like Uri and the infiltration was planned from the spot where the terrorists came from in the 2016 attacks and killed 16 Indian Bravehearts. Babar requested “I request Pakistan Army, ISI and Lashkar to make arrangements to take me back the way they sent me to Kashmir,” Meanwhile, Babar also praised the tea that Army had provided him.

Statement by the Army
Major General Virendra Vats, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 19 Infantry Divison, who was overseeing the media interaction, officially confirmed the operation by stating, “The operation against the terrorists went on for nine days. It started when they tried to infiltrate on September 18. There were six terrorists, out of which four ran back, but two managed to enter. One terrorist was killed on September 26, but the second started pleading for surrender.”
The Army added in a statement, “As per the surrendered terrorist, Atiq ur Rehman @ Qari Anas r/o (resident of) Village – Pindi, District- Attock, Punjab (Pakistan) had given him Rs 20,000/- for his mother’s treatment and had promised to give him additional Rs 30,000/- on safe return from Pattan near Baramulla, where the group was to deliver the warlike stores.”
Major General Vats added that activity had increased at the terror launchpads along the border and that seven terrorists had already been killed in the last week.
