Acting President of Afghanistan Amrullah Saleh, alongside Ahmad Massoud, the son of legendary anti-Taliban guerrilla leader Ahmad Shah Massoud has put up a defiant front against the Taliban in the Panjshir valley — the only province untouched by the barbarity of the medieval-era terror outfit. Now, according to fresh reports, Saleh’s forces have killed several Taliban terrorists (300 according to some reports) while taking in a handful as war prisoners. Meanwhile, the Taliban, restless for not being able to breach the defences of Panjshir, is pleading to Russia, to act as a mediator and find a political solution to the situation.

Saleh took to Twitter to inform that the Resistance forces have given the Taliban terrorists, a taste of their own medicine in Andarab valley. Saleh also issued a subtle threat and warned that some terrains should be avoided. He tweeted, “Talibs have massed forces near the entrance of Panjshir a day after they got trapped in ambush zones of neighbouring Andarab valley & hardly went out in one piece. Meanwhile, the Salang highway is closed by the forces of the Resistance. “There are terrains to be avoided”. See you.”

Earlier reported by TFI, Saleh and allies had recaptured the Charikar area in the Parwan territory, north of Kabul. The recapturing of the strategic province puts resistance forces within striking distance of the massive Bagram airport complex. It also enables Saleh & Co. to the land militia of Uzbek leader Abdul Rashid Dostum’s reinforcements, from Uzbekistan who has pledged his unwavering support to the Afghan President.

A strategically important road passes through Charikar via the Salang Tunnel, which connects Kabul with Mazar-i-Sharif, the largest city in northern Afghanistan and once held by Dostum.
Ambassador Dmitry Zhirnov said that a senior member of the Taliban’s political leadership has asked Russia to tell fighters in the Panjshir Valley that the Taliban hope to reach a political agreement to settle the situation there.

They say, history often repeats itself. In 1815, Napoleon Bonaparte in a quest to reclaim his lost glory charged to Waterloo to fight the Duke of Wellington and coalition of allied nations for one last shot at redemption. However, he was beaten brutally and was forced to abdicate for the second time, bringing a conclusive end to the Napoleonic Era.
While the Taliban is no Napoleon, its end could certainly be scripted in Panjshir, courtesy of the region’s geographical ruggedness along with the fact that it is fiercely guarded as the birthplace of one of Afghanistan’s greatest sons. While reports state that the Taliban has approached Russian Ambassador Dmitry Zhirnov to reach a political agreement with the resistance forces to settle the situation — the terror outfit cannot be trusted one bit.
The Taliban wrote on its Twitter account on Sunday, “Hundreds of Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate are heading towards the state of Panjshir to control it after local state officials refused to hand it over peacefully,”
Thus all the talks of mediating the situation with talks are hogwash, meant for the Islamo-leftist media of the world that will use it to humanize the Taliban.
The Talib monkeys can win Kabul, but what they cannot do is administrate and govern Afghanistan. All they know is fighting. Ruling a country of 31.5 million people is not possible for them, and Amrullah Saleh seems to be banking on the same. He is waiting for the reality to dawn upon the Taliban, that it cannot run a country on its own. Therefore, Saleh is taking up strategic provinces neighbouring Kabul.
