Ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections 2022, the stir in the political circles is rising. In a development that may increase the rift among parties as well as a split among the vote share, a new political party named ‘Bharatiya Arthik Party’ has been floated by farmers, entrepreneurs and traders who are assumed to have short term issues with the government. Farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni has been projected as the Chief Minister candidate for the party. As a result, the Congress party, which was trying with all its might to grab the vote share of the farmers using the issue of farm laws, will be left empty-handed.
In a function organized for All India Business Day at the local resort on Monday, talks were held between office bearers of various trade and industrial organizations. Ludhiana businessman Tarun Jain Bawa, the national president of BAP, declared that the party would contest on all 117 seats in Punjab and Gurnam Singh could be the CM candidate.
Addressing the gathering, Chaduni said, “We are grateful to the traders, businessmen and workers of the country who have united to topple the corporates who want to finish poor farmers. This initiative of BAP launched by businessmen is the beginning of Mission 2022 in Punjab, which is a joint effort of traders, farmers and labourers. The main aim of the mission is to oust the traditional political parties, which, instead of serving the people, have turned politics into a business. They rule us with our votes and ditch us, then why can’t we form a government to serve the public. After completion of our mission in Punjab, we will head for the next Lok Sabha elections and it will be called Mission 2024.”
Haryana-based farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni was suspended for a week from Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) for floating the idea that farmer unions should fight elections. Senior SKM leader Balbir Singh Rajewal said, “Following Chaduni’s repeated statements that morcha members should launch mission Punjab and contest polls, we have decided to suspend him for a week.”
The Congress party, in order to encash the vote share of farmers in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections 2022, has been going round the clock to instigate farmers against the government. Earlier this month, the party tried to spread fake news by using the name of Indian Men’s Hockey Team Captain Manpreet Singh. As reported by TFI, a Facebook page named “ With RG” posted – “Manpreet Singh Captain Hockey Team refused to accept Award Money from Modi Government until 3-Black Agriculture Laws are cancelled.”
A few days back, the former Congress party president, Rahul Gandhi, drove a tractor to the Parliament to protest against the three farm laws and as a consequence, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala along with a number of party leaders were detained by the police outside Parliament.
However, with the formation of the new party named ‘Bharatiya Arthik Party’, the farmers who were supposed to cast their votes for the opposition in upcoming Punjab elections, will be the ones ensuring its downfall. It can be said that, once again the party fell into the pit that the party itself had dug.
