Under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray, the Maharashtra government is taking arbitrary action on the whims and fancies of individuals instead of abiding by the constitution. A video that shows the Maharashtra transport minister ordering a police officer to arrest Union minister Narayan Rane has went viral on social media.
Anil Parab, who held a press conference, was audible as he was sitting before open microphones on the table for the press conference. He received the first call, and after the first conversation, he made the second call, apparently to a police officer.
“Hello, what are you people doing? But you need to do it. Have you detained him or not?… what order are they asking for? The High Court and sessions court have rejected his bail (application)… then use the police force,” Parab is heard saying on phone.
Shiv Sena legislator Bhaskar Jadhav, sitting next to Parab, is heard saying that the police had not detained Rane yet.
Nitish Rane, son of Narayan Rane, shared that video uploaded by TV9 on Facebook.
Anil Parab, the guardian minister of Ratnagiri, is very close to Uddhav Thackeray, infamous for being among the most corrupt politicians in the state. Previously his name has featured in Sachin Vaze’s letter, as the suspended officer alleged that even Parab had asked him to extort money for him.
In a handwritten letter to the court, Vaze revealed that Anil Parab had repeatedly asked him to extort money for the Sena leader. Vaze in his letter wrote, “In July-August 2020, I was called by Minister Anil Parab at his official bungalow… At the meeting, Parab asked me to look into the complaint under preliminary inquiry and bring the trustees of the SBUT to him for negotiations about the inquiry. He also insisted to initiate primary talks to get Rs 50 crore from SBUT in order to close the said enquiry. I had expressed my inability to do any such thing as I do not know anybody from SBUT and also I did not have any control over the inquiry.”
The suspended officer also claimed that Parab summoned him again in January 2021 and asked him to look into an inquiry against some contractors listed in the Sena ruled BMC and collect Rs 2 crore each from them.
After that, Parab again came into controversy when the motor vehicle inspector of the Nashik Regional Transport Office (RTO) alleged that state minister Anil Parab and five other officers were extorting money to the tune of Rs. 300 crores for postings and transfers within the RTO department.
A few weeks ago, Parab, the minister of Ratnagiri district, reached Pasora village to distribute aid to the flood victims. However, the support cheques were later taken back from the victims after the photo session.

It happens only in Maharashtra under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray that such an incompetent and corrupt minister gives orders to arrest a union minister for statements, while he himself roams free despite such serious charges. Also, he ordered to arrest of a Union minister, despite the fact that he is not in charge of the Maharashtra Home Ministry. It shows the arbitrary functioning of the Maharashtra government based on the whims and fancies of its leaders.
