As Facebook designates Taliban as terrorists, Twitter calls them ‘fighters’

As the US feels relieved after evacuating its military dogs from Afghanistan while leaving humans on the ground, curtains start to rise to the new Afghan administration led by the Taliban. Contrary to the previous Taliban regime (1996-2001), this is the age of social media and it seems like the Taliban has also geared up to spread their extremist and Sharia driven Propaganda through big social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. The astounding sympathy by the liberals for the Taliban has been doing rounds on social media platforms.

But not every social media company is on board with the Taliban propaganda of moderating its image. The biggest name among them is Facebook. The social media company with almost 3 billion users has decided to ban the Taliban with immediate effect. It has banned accounts linked to the Taliban designating the militant group to be a ‘terrorist’ organization in the league of Al-Qaeda and ISIS. Facebook has also dedicated a team of Native Afghanis to identify and alert users about the content closely related to extremist propaganda driven by the Taliban.

In a statement Facebook said-

“The Taliban is sanctioned as a terrorist organization under US law and we have banned them from our services under our Dangerous Organization policies. This means we remove accounts maintained by or on behalf of the Taliban and prohibit praise, support, and representation of them.”

The social media giant also clarified that the ban on Taliban applies to its other platforms like Instagram and Whatsapp, though it is yet to be seen how the private messages platform like Whatsapp will be moderated to filter contents related to Taliban’s extremist propaganda.

As one prominent social media Giant ramps up its efforts to pin down the Taliban in information warfare, another one is busy creating a soft corner for the radical extremist group in the minds of its millions of users in order to mainstream them, Twitter.

The hypocritical cabal of left- liberal ‘intellectuals’ on the platform started to create a soft corner for the Taliban as soon as they got hold of Kabul. Some even refused to call the Taliban a Terrorist organization. The cabal of Islamoleftists has been existent on Twitter for a long time and Twitter has refused to take any action on them. Recently, Twitter’s liberal bias reached its Zenith, when two accounts related to the Taliban amassing about 0.7 million combined came to the forefront of information warfare.

The accounts refer to themselves as spokespersons for the Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan and keep peddling lies related to the Taliban, in turn promoting the heinous Sharia law and extremist ideology. Going deep into their accounts, many more such accounts can be found which promote the Taliban’s lies day in and day out.

While all of this is going on, Twitter refers to people following the Taliban’s ideology as ‘Fighters’ in turn diluting the Taliban as a moderate organisation, instead of calling them what it is, terrorists. On being questioned, Twitter gave a formal answer, it said- ‘’the platform prohibits the promotion of terrorism or any form of violence against civilians’’, but no actionable claim was produced in support of the above statement. Instead, Twitter confirmed that Taliban terrorists will be allowed to stay on Twitter if they do not get too violent and follow the rules. No one knows what is ’too violent’ for Twitter

It is one of the most bizarre dichotomies of the 21st century that Twitter did not even blink an eye before banning the 45th president of the United States based on an unproven, unverified and arbitrary claim, while extremists like Zabihullah and Suhail Shaheen are ever present on Twitter spreading their 7th century-old order, sharia driven extremist ideologies which has no place in any civil society whatsoever. People around the are world still pondering over how Islamists and Left liberals have come together.

Twitter needs to learn from Facebook which showed zero tolerance towards the terrorist organization. This extreme liberal outlook of Twitter will prove to be disastrous for the company as it is only a matter of time before Governments all around the world start to pull up a zero-tolerance policy for Twitter, as India did recently.
