Usually, Hindus are at the receiving end of sinister conversion activities by foreign missionaries and Islamist groups, but in what comes as a welcome surprise, an Indonesian pastor named Robert Salomon came to India, hoping to convert innocuous Hindus into Christianity. But, he got so enamored by the Hindu customs that he ended up becoming one.
Reportedly, Robert Salomon, who became a pastor while studying organic chemistry at Oxford University was sent to India by Christian missionaries at the age of 25 in 1986 to keep a close eye on the activities of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). However, upon reaching India and closely following the activities of RSS, an impressed Robert decided to leave Christianity and devote himself to the cause of Hinduism.
Two years after setting foot in India, Robert, in 1986, accepted Hindu Sanatan Dharma through the Arya Samaj system and started promoting RSS the same year. Afterwards, he was also entrusted with the task of Hindu Jagran Manch.

Now, rechristened as Dr. Suman Kumar, the RSS pracharak is the regional organization minister of Hindu Jagran Manch Bihar-Jharkhand. According to few media reports, Suman, till date has helped 8000 Hindus return to their religion.

The endearing news of Kumar following the Hindu faith and using it for the upliftment of the society comes at a time when the Uttar Pradesh ATS recently busted a massive illegal conversion racket run by Mohammad Umar Gautam and Mufti Qazi Jahangir Qasmi. The lid on the racket was blown after the radical Islamists pried upon deaf and mute students and converted them into Islam.
Reported extensively by TFI, the duo of Umar and Qazi ran an organisation named Islamic Dawah Centre (IDC), along with their other associates. According to several media reports, it is being suspected that Umar’s conversion racket received foreign donations from NGOs based in the US, Qatar, Kuwait, and other countries as well.
While Mohammad Umar Gautam was earlier a Hindu named Shyam Prasad Singh Gautam, he changed his religion after coming in touch with a Muslim man in his neighbourhood. Later, he converted his wife and his mother into Islam and started using every dirty trick in the book to lure, financially weak and disabled people into his cult of conversion – wanting to prove his Muslimness to the ummah.

As per a Jagran report, what made Umar’s conversion such big in scale was the pyramid style multi-level chain that he created of agents. Reportedly, the perpetrators of the conversion racket turned the ‘converts’ into ‘agents’ for some money. These agents were then assigned to attract people to the alleged ‘motivation’ camp for which they were paid Rs 5000. Upon conversion, the agents were paid anywhere between Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000.
Mohammad Umar Gautam and Dr. Suman Kumar present two contrasting case studies. While one converted and used the teachings of the new religion to make the world a better place, the other used it to orchestrate a mass cult of conversion where poor and weak were targeted and brainwashed into accepting an alien religion.
