The state of Uttar Pradesh which was once a home to mafias, gangsters and gundas seems to have turned a corner under the rule of the Yogi Government. Yogi’s strategy to maintain law and order in the state is bearing fruit as 22 gangsters have surrendered due to increasing pressure against crime in the district of Shamli over the past month.
On Wednesday, 6 gangsters surrendered at the entrance of the police station after reaching Kairana Kotwali. Furqan, Farman, Taseem, Inam, Naushad and Hashim, arrived at the police station to surrender themselves. At the entrance of the police station, they vowed to avoid crime in the future, signaling that they have turned a leaf.
About five months ago, 40 people including Samajwadi Party MLA Chaudhary Nahid Hasan and his mother Tabassum Hasan were booked under the Gangster Act. Police have arrested eight accused whereas a further 16 have surrendered on their own accounts. A total of 30 accused have been booked under the Gangster Act so far as Yogi’s crackdown on crime continues unabated.
Shamli SP Sukirti Madhav in a conversation with NBT Online said, “In the last one month, we have cracked down on the long-wanted gangsters. The process of attaching the property of these miscreants, who did not appear before the police even after several notices, was also started. As a result of increasing legal pressure, so far 22 gangsters have surrendered in the last one month. “This campaign of ours will continue even now,” he said.

On Friday last week, three accused gangsters Momin, Intere and Mangta surrendered before the police. Surrendering before the police seems to be the new trend followed by criminals, that has been triggered by the strict law and order policies undertaken by the Yogi government. Yogi’s crackdown on crime on the state seems to be paying off.
The main reason behind surrenders is that the police puts pressure on the miscreants who have been absconding for a long time and then takes up legal action upon them. Apart from this, incidents of police encounters at many places in the state in the last few months have also created fear in the minds of the criminals, as they vow to stay away from a life of crime.
Absolutely no criminal will be spared as long as Yogi Adityanath remains at the helm of affairs in the state. Uttar Pradesh had been infamous for its crime and mafia circles which had run unchecked under the previous governments. The state had been infamous, particularly, in terms of women safety but with Yogi in power, things seem to be changing for the better.
The law & order situation has certainly improved in Uttar Pradesh. The success in decreasing crime against women is attributed to Yogi’s popular schemes like Pink Booths and women cops. Moreover, Yogi’s encouragement to nab gang lords and gangsters has instilled fear in the minds of the dreaded dons of Uttar Pradesh because of which criminals have started surrendering voluntarily to the police.
