Giving a fitting reply, once and for all to the detractors of the Modi government trying to present a dystopian picture of the routine burials along the Ganga river banks, the Allahabad High Court on Friday refused to entertain any PIL regarding the same and gave an earful to the petitioners. The court remarked the petitioners to go back to the drawing board and conduct some research on the issue before filing the frivolous PILs.
“Having gone through the entire petition, we are of the view that the petitioner has not done much research work in respect of rites and customs which are prevalent among various communities living along the bank of river Ganga,” said the Court before adding, “Therefore, we are not inclined at this stage to cause any indulgence instead to allow the petitioner to withdraw the petition with a liberty to file fresh petition after inquiry and research in respect of the practice of last rites in various communities which are residing along the bank of Ganga.”
The petitioners pleaded before the court to pass an order to prevent/stop the burial of dead bodies near the river. However, the court refused to pass ‘any order at this stage’.
As reported by TFI, the left-liberal media and a few of the former journalists turned covid tourists during the peak of the covid crisis in April-May had tried to unnecessarily make an issue out of the burials of the dead.
Also, reported by TFI, a Jagran report whilst quashing the fake news revealed that most of the pictures of riverbank burials traversing the realms of social media platforms had been picked from the photos of dead bodies buried in Shringverpur Ghat in Prayagraj in 2018 – much before the coronavirus infection came into existence.
The report states that burying dead bodies in the sand along the banks of river Ganga is an age-old custom. Most of the dead bodies associated with diseases like vitiligo, leprosy, or snakebites are brought here and buried. The pictures clicked by Jagran photojournalists in 2018 were being used to further the propaganda of besmirching the UP government. However, the likes of Barkha Dutt continued to peddle their agenda by camping on the banks.
As reported by TFI, Aaj Tak recently made a story out of a burial ground in Prayagraj where people mainly of the Buddhist faith bury their loved ones. Visuals of the said burial ground were flashed around as though the dead bodies lying covered with orange, yellow and red cloths were a result of the Covid-19 crisis. Aaj Tak thought that it could get away with spreading fallacious misinformation. However, it had been caught red-handed trying to spread sheer propaganda against the Yogi administration.

The ‘covidiots’ masquerading as journalists had been trying their level best to create an environment of fear and psychosis in the minds of the general public by routinely flashing insensitive images. However, the judgement of the court is expected to set them in their place.
