Bollywood actor turned part-time environmental activist, Juhi Chawla and her publicity lawsuit stunt against the implementation of 5G services across the country spectacularly backfired on Friday as the Delhi High Court dismissed her rather ludicrous petition. In what served as public humiliation for the actor turned uninformed activist, the Delhi High Court also imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on her and two other appellants. The funds will be utilised for the cause of road accident victims, said the court.
As reported by TFI, the actor a few days ago claimed that if 5G technology was to be implemented across the country, then people would be exposed to radiofrequency radiation (RF) at a rate of 10 times or 100 times the current figure. Of course, she had no scientific backing for such claims. Based on some conspiracy theories, Juhi filed the “litigation”. The Delhi High Court on Friday, however, made it clear that it has no time for such frivolous petitions.
Justice Jag Jivan Ram Midha said the suit is defective and dismissed it on technical grounds. “The plaintiffs have abused and misused the process of law which has resulted in waste of judicial time. The cost of Rs 20 lakh is imposed on the plaintiffs. The plaintiffs are directed to deposit the cost of Rs 20 lakh with Delhi State Legal Services Authority within one week,” the court said. The court also said “vexatious allegations were made” by Juhi Chawla and the other appellants.
The court further said the plaintiffs have filed the suit to gain publicity “which is clear from the fact that plaintiff no 1 (Chawla) circulated the videoconferencing link of this court on her social media accounts which resulted in repeated disruptions of court proceedings”.
Earlier too, the court had said, “It is a defective plaint. This suit has been filed only for media publicity and nothing more than that. It is very shocking.” On Wednesday, during the hearing, Juhi had publicly shared the link of the proceedings on her Instagram profile, leading to many fans joining the hearing.
As soon as the hearing began, a man entered the meeting and repeatedly started asking “Where is Juhi ma’am. I can’t see Juhi ma’am.” While the court initially ignored the man, it couldn’t do so further when he broke into an impromptu song.

The man first sang ‘Ghoonghat Ki Aad Se’ from Juhi’s 1993 film Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke. Although the court asked the court master to remove the person from the online hearing and lock the same, the singer left the hearing but joined it again and took his singing career to new heights. During his second outing, the disruptor started singing ‘Lal Lal Honthon Pe’ from Juhi’s 1995 film Naajayaz.
Based on some anecdotal evidence and theories, Juhi Chawla filed the “ill-conceived litigation”. However, now that she has been left red-faced and embarrassed after being fined a stinging 20 lakh rupees, hopefully, her environmental activism career would be brought to an end.
