While a pandemic is raging across the country, there are two Chief Ministers who are still actively involved in using their PR machinery to repair their image. While one has spent over Rs 150 crores in the first three months of the year on advertisements alone, the other is using Bollywood to proclaim himself as the best CM of the country. Just the way last year Bollywood woke brigade had stamped Uddhav Thackeray as the messiah of Maharashtra, the same paid Bollywood celebrities have come out in full support of the CM.
Leading the charge was writer Javed Akhtar who took to Twitter to sing songs of praises for Uddhav and BMC. “I believe others need to learn a lesson or two from the government of Maharashtra and Bombay Municipal corporation that are fighting with the menace of COVID with tremendous competence,” tweeted Javed Akhtar.

Similarly, Shruti Seth, the new-age Bollywood actress turned woke Social justice Warrior (SCJ) gave Mumbai Model her seal of approval whilst ignoring the plight of the rest of Maharashtra.

While there is no denying the fact that Iqbal Chahal, the Mayor of BMC has done an admirable job — what Bollywood does not understand is that Mumbai is not Maharashtra and that stemming the flow of cases in Mumbai alone does not mean that Uddhav has been successful. 23 out of Maharashtra’s 36 districts still have a positivity rate of 20 per cent. Maharashtra’s caseload has surpassed the tally of countries such as Russia (48 lakh), the UK (44 lakh) and Italy (41 lakh).
Moreover, if the richest municipality in the country had to take over one and a half year to get a grip on the situation, then it certainly cannot be termed as an outright victory.
As reported previously by TFI, at the starting of May, according to Maharashtra’s health department, Pune had the highest share of active cases at 15.15 per cent while Nagpur accounted for 11.19 per cent of the state’s active cases. About 10.75 per cent came from Thane and Nasik accounted for 7.59 per cent of the state’s active cases. The average positivity rate in Maharashtra still stands at a harrowing 22 per cent.
The Nandurbar tribal district has recorded the highest 2.93% mortality rate, in Hingoli it is 2.46 per cent and 2.33 per cent in Sindhudurg. In Nanded, the mortality rate is 2.29 per cent and 1.19 per cent in Aurangabad.
Maharashtra’s average mortality rate is 0.98 per cent over the last week. There are 22 districts that are witnessing a surge in positive cases with a high mortality rate in the state.
When the cases were rising last year, the same set of Bollywood celebrities had come out of their air-conditioned mansions and started posting identical tweets to gain support for the best CM.

Bollywood actors are simply trying to remain in the good books of the state CM so that they can ply their trade and their livelihoods are not threatened in any way whatsoever. There is a reason why after every press meet of Uddhav Thackeray, the celebs salivate at his poise, grace and supposed oratory prowess.
