India gives China’s Huawei what it deserves – a kick on their posterior

Obliterating China’s evil ambition of sneaking into India’s telecommunication sector once again, the Modi government on Tuesday removed the names of Chinese companies like Huawei from participating in the 5G trials in the country.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Communications major carriers Reliance Industries’ Jio Infocomm, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea will conduct the trials along with state-run MTNL in urban, rural and semi-urban areas. The carriers will be allowed to conduct the trial with equipment makers including Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung’s network unit.

India is the world’s second-biggest market by the number of phone users. Authorities are wary of awarding new technology business to Chinese companies like Huawei because of security concerns. Citing a similar threat to ‘national security’, the Modi government had banned Tik Tok and hundreds of Chinese apps last year.

Moreover, according to government sources, the centre is planning to bring new procurement rules in June this year, to ban Indian mobile carriers from using telecom hardware made by Huawei.

The blacklisting by the Indian government comes days after the Chinese foreign minister extended a helping hand toward New Delhi to help it battle the ongoing COVID second wave. Now, it is clear that China was trying to win favour and lobby for its espionage companies to land a trial slot in the country.

As reported by TFI, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi whilst attending the fourth multilateral dialogue involving foreign ministers of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka about coordinating the COVID-19 response spoke about Beijing inviting India for the meeting. China’s ambassador to India Sun Weidong had taken to Twitter to announce the decision.

“State Councilor&FM #WangYi @ virtual meeting of six FMs from China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on cooperating to fight #Covid19: Chinese side also extended an invitation to India for the meeting,” tweeted the ambassador.

However, New Delhi last Thursday calmly rejected any such invitation, giving a fitting reply to Xi Jinping who is trying to act like a ‘good samaritan’ after exporting the virus to the entire planet.

Asked about the invitation, official sources said India hadn’t recognised the initiative and that its efforts to engage its neighbours had been more significant. The statement of the Indian official holds as for many months, China tried its vaccine diplomacy with African and Asian countries but given the poor quality of its vaccines, most of the countries around the world refused to purchase or even take them for free.

It is clear that New Delhi had pre-empted China’s dubious plans and circumvented them to avoid falling into the trap. Banning Chinese tech companies like Huawei that have sole allegiances to the CCP and Politburo in Beijing is the right way to go about things as India has enough, capable companies to bring the revolutionary 5G network.
