Congress party was at it yet again on Saturday when it committed a huge blunder on Twitter by posting the photo of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw instead of Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa on the latter’s death anniversary.
“Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa OBE was the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army and the first Indian to command a battalion. On his death anniversary, we thank him for his valour and leadership during the all-important Indo-Pakistan War of 1947,” the Congress party wrote in the now-deleted tweet.
However, the social media intern in Congress’s newly christened team got confused and ended up posting the photo of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw instead of KM Cariappa. After the gaffe was highlighted by the netizens, a face-palming congress deleted the post and instantly put out a new tweet with the correct image.
However, the damage had already been done and Twitter had a field day in taking pot-shots at Congress’s goof up and the party was trolled badly throughout the morning and afternoon.
Shriman @RahulGandhi and @INCIndia think Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw is Field Marshal KM Cariappa.
Perhaps 'think' is the wrong word. To think, a certain amount of intelligence is required. Mr @ShashiTharoor would endorse this point. Or would he? pic.twitter.com/fy9Rzx5WRw— Kanchan Gupta (Hindu Bengali Refugee)🇮🇳 (@KanchanGupta) May 15, 2021
And the Oscar for wrong use of image goes to…….

While Congress did commit a blunder, news channel Times Now tried to tone down the embarrassment for Congress by terming the gaffe as an ‘alleged error’.
“BJP MP @rajeev_mp hits out at Congress over an alleged error posting image of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw image instead of Field Marshal Cariappa on his death anniversary. ‘It is quite distressing to see how Congress treats our heroes.” tweeted Times Now.
😂 @TimesNow says @INCIndia posting image of Field Marshal Manekshaw in place of Field Marshal Cariappa on his death anniversary is an "alleged error".
Even @ndtv can't beat that. pic.twitter.com/gkbwlJG3WS— Kanchan Gupta (Hindu Bengali Refugee)🇮🇳 (@KanchanGupta) May 15, 2021
KM Cariappa was the first Indian to be appointed as the Commander in Chief of the Indian Army in independent India, apart from being the only other officer after Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw to have received the rank of the Field Marshal, in a special investiture ceremony in 1986. He had led the Indian forces on the Western Front during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947.
Congress has had a history of disrespecting national heroes. As reported by TFI, Cariappa’s presence was resented by the likes of VK Krishna Menon and Sardar Baldev Singh, the first Defence Minister of India. The Field Marshal further invoked the ire of the senior Congress politicians, when under his leadership, the Indian Army refused to reserve posts for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, asserting that the proposal would degrade the Army’s standards and increase the risk of it being defeated if the right talent was not recruited based on skill.

When Congress is in power it partakes in epic scams of astronomical figures, however, when out of power, the party routinely commits blunders on its social media platforms.
While the earlier slipups were restricted to interpreting the data points and graphs incorrectly, the Congress party committed a grave mistake in wrongly depicting a national hero. Surely, the party is learning from its charismatic leader Rahul Gandhi who has a glowing resume of committing such faux pas.
Congress sarkar hated Gen Maneckshaw too. It has witheld his pension for ever. It was the BJP govt. that cut his check. He famously quoted then, saying that he “hoped it does not bounce”!!!
Such is the vindictiveness of the congress party.
