The burgeoning second wave of China-made coronavirus pandemic has caused a lot of misery to the general populace across the country. With hospital beds and oxygen cylinders running out, Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn has chipped in to do his bit to help the countrymen. According to news reports, Ajay has been working with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Hinduja Hospital to set up ICU (Intensive Care Units) to provide emergency medical facilities to the Mumbaikars.

Ajay Devgn has teamed up with some of his film industry compatriots and helped the BMC to set up an emergency medical unit at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park. Joy Chakraborty, the COO of Hinduja Hospitals confirmed “It will be an extension of Hinduja Hospital,”

BMC has converted Bharat Scouts & Guides Hall at Shivaji Park to a 20-bed COVID-19 facility with ventilators, oxygen support, and para monitors. Ajay Devgn has helped by providing funds to the organisation through his social service wing NY Foundations.

While the Tanhaji actor is busy trying to help the community — other supposed big stars of Bollywood are indulging in their vanities by travelling to exotic places and rubbing it on the faces of the masses by posting elaborately staged ‘wanderlust’ photos.

Unlike Devgn, Bollywood stars Disha Patani and Tiger Shroff reached the Maldives like clockwork once again while Shraddha Kapoor arrived at the island nation for the third time after Maharashtra went into a lockdown. Not only this, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Janhvi Kapoor have also caught international flights and went to foreign shores to avoid the problems the country is currently facing.

However, it was Pooja Bedi who grabbed the headlines for her insensitive behaviour. Earlier this month, Pooja shared a video of herself and her fiancée Maneck Contractor on a speedboat ride in Goa, without masks. “Joys of living in healthy, happy #goa. Free your mind #NoFear. Life is meant to be lived…not spent caged and masked for a year/ years in fear of a virus that’s clearly not going away! If you died tomorrow after year of masking/lockdown.. what would ur greatest regret be?” she captioned the video.

As soon as the video went viral, a lot of flak came Pooja’s way and her father Kabir Bedi was forced to release a video, where he was seen laying emphasis on masking up and getting vaccinated.

“Every single one of us must make a difference. Let’s fight COVID19 together. Don’t go out unless you must. Stay safe at all times 🙏🏻 #GetVaccinated #MaskUp #WashYourHands #KeepDistance#Covid19 #Pandemic,” Kabir wrote on Instagram.

Public figures such as the aforementioned Bollywood stars have a civic duty towards society. They can influence people with their gargantuan reach, and if used for the welfare, can help bring about a change, even if it is infinitesimal in scope. Thus, the celebrities should take a cue out of Ajay Devgn’s book of public service and try to emulate the same.
