NCPCR exposes ‘Persecution Relief’ which publishes fake reports of child abuse quoted by USCIRF to defame India

The National Commission of Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), the apex statutory body tasked with ensuring the upkeep of child rights in India has now decided to initiate a crackdown against a Bhopal-based NGO – Persecution Relief. The Christian NGO has made it quite a habit to defame India on a global scale, and it is also said to have a nexus with international organisations, including the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), which is known for its explicit anti-India inclinations. Persecution Relief, in its latest report, had made a series of false claims, and now, it is about to get itself whopped for all the lies.

The annual report of the NGO alleges without any proof that Christian institutions and orphanages in the country face harassment, “adversely affecting the integrity and reputation of India”, NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo said in a statement. “…the NGO has made certain serious allegations in its Annual Report, 2019 thereby adversely affecting the integrity and reputation of India. This Annual Report has been circulated globally thereby creating a dreadful image of India worldwide,” the NCPCR chief said.

He added, “Without any proof to substantiate its claims, the report alleges that Christian institutions and orphanages in the country face incidents of harassment.”

Such harassment, the NGO is said to have claimed under the various child right laws of India, which it alleged are being unfairly used to target it. However, the NCPCR was not willing to engage in a debate with an anti-India organisation having international links with nefarious bodies. Therefore, it took to writing to the Bhopal police seeking the registration of an FIR against the founder of Persecution Relief. “This has potentially caused injury to the sovereignty and integrity of India on the global scale and brought disrepute and disregard to the country… which constitutes an act of sedition on the part of the NGO and therefore attracts criminal liability under section 124A… of the IPC,” the NCPCR chief had said in his statement.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, Priyank Kanoongo said, “We will take strong action against those who have published a false report about the abuse of Child protection law in India and shared it in 150 countries to defame and tarnish the country’s global image. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is strict in dealing with such matters.” Kanoongo also noted how USCIRF had taken cognisance of the NGO’s fallacious report and defamed India accordingly around the world.

Persecution Relief is notoriously known for giving communal twists to even small-time crimes in India, which it then, with the help of its ties to the Indian American Christian Organizations (FIACONA) and other entities, uses to influence the USCIRF. However, with the NCPCR coming down cracking hard on the Christian NGO, its days of glory are about to come to a rather unceremonious end.
